Pretty Please? Podcast

1) In one sentence, what is your podcast about?

Pretty Please? Podcast is the podcast about absolutely nothing and the people’s diary. It was brought to life in 2017 to create a platform for young women of color who are often looked over, never heard or noticed. Pretty Please? Podcast, created by Leah Collie, delves into various topics including sex and relationships, mental and physical health, social and political issues and navigating through life in your 20s. It’s a comedy talk show and diary podcast aimed to spread awareness, make the world laugh, and bring people of different walks of life together.

2) Who should listen to your podcast?

Pretty Please? is for everyone who has a opinion. Although the show was created for young women of color in mind, especially Black women, this podcast is for anyone who’s struggling to keep it together after college.

3) How long have you been podcasting and why did you get into podcasting?

I’ve been podcasting for about a year now. It all started back in 2016 when I decided to start one with a friend. When she decided to drop it, I began to create a new one on my own. I noticed I started to find my own voice and become more confident in myself and my thoughts. Pretty Please? Podcast gave me the confidence to shout to the world that I’m here, I matter and you will listen.

4) What non-podcasting hobbies do you have?

I am currently a freelance writer and karaoke queen. I love to write short stories and am in midst of writing a self-help e-book. Also, give me a mic at a karaoke show and I will rip it!

5) Tell us about your setup!

My set up is very simple as I am still in the beginning stages of my podcast journey! I usually record on my Mac Laptop with my mic plugged into the side and if I’m doing it alone, I will record in my small studio in my home. However, I also travel with my laptop! If I’m recording with guests, I will set up my lap top or iPhone and record on Audacity and/or the Voice Memos app. Technology is everywhere might as well use it!

6) What is one show (other than your own) that you think everyone should listen to?

Kinks With KeKe is a VERY interesting podcast about exploring your sexuality. Everyone should listen and follow.

7) Anything else you’d like to share?

Pretty Please? Podcast is now on the web! Listeners can view new and old episodes on prettypleasepodcast.org! And as part of the “people’s diary,” listeners will soon be able to submit articles, advice and “diary” entries on the website – anonymously or not!
