Creator of the Day #1: Scott Kujak

Scott Kujak with Richard Overton, America’s oldest WWII veteran, recording an episode of Underdog.

In one sentence, what is your podcast about?

Underdog is focused on capturing stories of extreme adversity and how each guest found the will to never give up.

Who should listen to your podcast?

Anyone that loves to cheer for the underdog. You will be able to find stories that you can relate to in whatever challenge you are facing in life.

How long have you been podcasting and why did you get into podcasting?

I started this podcast in November 2017 because of my friend, Phil Taylor, who is featured in Episode 1. We played football in college together and we are both 25 years old. He has been battling stage 4 colon cancer the past 2 years and has overcome multiple surgeries, extensive chemotherapy, and a continuous emotional rollercoaster. However, his optimism and faith in God has only grown stronger which has directly impacted me in my life. The podcast was born with the hope that all of my guests’ stories can impact someone who is going through a tough time right now just as Phil’s story profoundly shaped my life.

What non-podcasting hobbies do you have?

I am a boxer and recently won the 2018 Golden Gloves Boxing Championship for the Super Heavyweight Division in Austin, Texas. I enjoy traveling and exploring new areas. I love to do anything outside even in the Texas summer heat!

What is one show (other than your own) that you think everyone should listen to?

I really enjoy “Stuff You Should Know” because it is always educational and comical at the same time. I’ve never felt like I wasted time by listening to that show.

Anything else interesting you’d like to share!

I’m currently writing a book about the top 10 Underdog stories from the podcast! Stay tuned for a release date!
