The Scavengers Network & Myth Takes

Colin Parker is part of The Scavengers Network and Myth Takes, a narrative storytelling podcast based around Monster of the Week and a rotating cast of Scavengers Network cast members.

1) In one sentence, what is your podcast about?

Myth Takes is a narrative storytelling podcast featuring a rotating cast of Scavengers Network members fighting all of the monsters and cryptids thrown at them.

2) Who should listen to your podcast?

Fans of The Adventure Zone: Amnesty, Buffy, Fringe, Stranger Things, X-Files, Kids On Bikes, and/or Twin Peaks.

3) How long have you been podcasting and why did you get into podcasting?

I have been podcasting for a number of years on and off, but this show has been up and running since May.

4) What non-podcasting hobbies do you have?

I own an online media company, doing videos ranging from cooking to Let’s Plays.

5) Tell us about your setup (recording equipment, studio, etc)! What is one show (other than your own) that you think everyone should listen to?

I personally use a Zoom R24 for recording myself and others who may film/record with me, along with a Spark condenser by Blue (I love this mic so much). I edit on a MacBook Pro and Desktop. If I can suggest a show on our network, Spooky Spouses! If it has to be off of our network, then Kids On Bikes.

7) Anything else interesting you’d like to share

I think the thing that makes our show so interesting is the fact that it’s a rotating cast, with even the GM/Keeper spot being able to be rotated. Getting to see podcasters of different properties from our network come together and work together to create an incredible story makes for fun interactions people have yet to se from our group! We also feature original music, most of which is by me, some of it from other cast members, and sound effects, to make the show as immersive as possible, and create a unique setting.
We’re really proud of this show, and I love working on it. This is the most satisfying endeavor I’ve ever been a part of!
