Audio Dramas That Premiered in 2017 featuring Pam with Audiotainment.News

We’ve met some fantastic people with brilliant, creative minds in our 2-year Podchaser journey. The podcasting community regularly shows us generosity and kindness, so our team at Podchaser wants to reciprocate that support with guest posts on our blog from the brains behind the industry. This week, we bring you Pam with Audiotainment.News. Pam keeps tabs on over 900 audio drama podcasts and considers herself a passionate purveyor of undiscovered audio drama podcasts. So, without further ado, here’s Pam!

Last year was an amazing year for audio drama (radio plays) podcasts. Fictional podcasts have become a thing, a really big thing! And these aren’t the radio plays of the Golden Age of radio, these are cinematic adventures for the modern mind. In 2017, audio drama experienced a huge rebirth in the United States and throughout the world. And the audio drama community (yes, there is an internet community) is ecstatic.

In 2017 audio drama podcasts had more than 150 new podcasts added to the genré. I’ve picked a few of the 2017 premiers to introduce you to:

Tribulation

On a deserted stretch of highway, Greg and Stacy Carlson stumble on a faint radio broadcast at the end of the AM dial. What sounds like your average radio sermon reveals itself to be something far more sinister. Strangely fascinated, Greg becomes obsessed with investigating the source of the broadcast. His subsequent disappearance leaves Stacy alone, bewildered, terrified . . . and on a quest for the truth.

Bronzeville

Starring Laurence Fishburne, Larenz Tate and Tika Sumpter, and written by Academy Award(r) and BAFTA nominee Josh Olson (“A History of Violence”), BRONZEVILLE will chronicle the lives of players in the lottery games while illuminating the self-sustainability of the community’s African American residents.

Steal The Stars

The first audio drama from Tor Labs (imprint of Tor Books) and Gideon Media, Steal the Stars is a gripping noir science fiction thriller in 14 episodes: Forbidden love, a crashed UFO, an alien body, and an impossible heist unlike any ever attempted — scripted by Mac Rogers, the award-winning playwright and writer of the multi-million download The Message and LifeAfter.

The Gray Area

Strange voices, agitated psychiatrists, giant rats, magical couriers, mysterious women, and loud and disheveled men. All of this and more included in this anthology, audio drama by Ed Champion.

The Hyacinth Disaster

The crew of the MRS Hyacinth rush to survey a Jovian asteroid, hoping it is worth enough to ransom the crew of their sister ship — the Corvus — before the deadline hits.

Twelve Chimes It’s Midnight

At midnight, anything can happen. The idea of this radio drama podcast series came from a love of old time radio, particularly the show “Lights Out” written and produced by Wyllis Cooper and Arch Oboler in the 1930s and 40s. With Twelve Chimes, It’s Midnight, we’re excited to bring you original “new-time” radio dramas of mystery, suspense, and horror!

Boom: A Serial Drama Podcast

Boom is a story about loss and recovery. Porter, a computer technician and outdoor enthusiast, must come to terms with the murder of his best friend and love of his life Genevieve. The lead detective on the case believes Porter is the killer, and his two best friends are trying their hardest to get him back to the guy he once was.

The White Vault

Explore the far reaches of the world’s horrors in the audio drama podcast The White Vault. Follow the collected records of a repair team sent to Outpost Fristed in the vast white wastes of the Arctic Circle and unravel what lies waiting in the ice below. This Fool and Scholar Production is intended for mature audiences.

Redwing: The Audio Drama Podcast

RedWing is a superhero audio drama. By day, Jordan Redfield-Wade is a billionaire philanthropist and private investigator, but by night, he protects the people of New Ark City as RedWing, the masked vigilante.

There is evil and darkness on the horizon. It’s time to Unite the Guardians.

Is Anyone Out There?

Ryan receives an unexpected response when he fires up his grandfather’s old ham radio set. The surprises continue to build as Ryan struggles to make sense of the voice on the other end and the claim she is making. All is not as it appears to be, to either of them, as Ryan begins to dig deeper.

LA Theatre Works

L.A. Theatre Works brings you contemporary, edgy stories from leading writers, starring name actors from stage and screen.

The Amelia Project

The Amelia Project offers a very special service: Faking its clients’ deaths! Its eccentric clientele includes cult leaders, politicians and celebrities, all desperate to disappear and start over… But how long can the secrecy last?

Duggan Hill

On a backcountry road outside the hamlet of Duggan Hill, Saskatchewan, a woman named Sasha Ismond goes missing without a trace. She had been travelling from Vancouver for the past day, and was mere minutes away from her father’s home. The last person she spoke to was her former partner, Zoe, a journalism student at the University of British Columbia. This is a collection of recovered audio recordings from the subsequent investigation into her disappearance, recorded during the summer of 2015.

Mercury: A Broadcast of Hope

A daily fiction podcast from Atlanta Radio Theatre Company. A different kind of zombie story…

Take care of each other.

An episode is released every day that expires in 24 hours. Don’t miss out!
