The Ultimate Guide to Podcast Credits with Podchaser

Podcasts require a ton of work, not only from hosts and guests, but also producers, editors, and sound designers. Every creator deserves to be credited for their work, but podcast credits are also so much more than that. They can help listeners discover podcasts, podcasters grow an audience, and even help brands dive into the medium.

What are Podcast Credits?

If Podchaser has been called the “IMDb of podcasts“, then think of podcast and episode credits like movie credits. They are a record of every person who was involved with making a podcast or episode – from hosts, guests, and producers to composers, designers, even foley artists. On Podchaser, credits allow you to quickly browse every contributor to a podcast, and click through to see what other projects they’ve been a part of.

Why Podcast Credits are Useful to Fans, Podcasters, and Brands

Podchaser credits are a wonderful resource for fans, podcasters, and brands alike. The name of the game is discoverability.

Fans

Fans can search and browse for podcast creators using Podchaser, but that’s just the beginning. After finding their favorite creator, fans can follow them to be notified of any new episodes, podcasts, and guest appearances.

Credits are also useful for listeners looking for a new podcast. They can think back to their favorite shows and hop into the credits section. From there they can click a credit to see what else that person has been a part of. Maybe you’re a fan of Radiolab, so you click on the host, Jad Abumrad, and boom you’re taken to his creator profile where you can see he’s worked on a bunch of new shows including the highly rated Dolly Parton’s America. It only took a few clicks and you just found your new favorite podcast!

Podcasters

Organic Growth via SEO

Podcasters benefit from adding credits for every creator involved in their show, because more links means more SEO credibility for both you and your collaborators. Google’s algorithm will associate your collaborators with your show and vice versa. Meaning that people will find your show when they search for your collaborators and they’ll find your collaborators when searching for your show.

For example, if you have Tom Hanks credited as a guest on your podcast (yeah, he appears on podcasts), your podcast will appear when people search for Tom Hanks’ podcast appearances, as well as on his creator profile.

Get Discovered on Podchaser

Credits also create discoverability for listeners who are browsing Podchaser. Similar to SEO, credits create a wonderful discovery feedback loop. Listeners of shows you’ve guested on will see your credits on that podcast’s page and can click your name to find everything else you’ve worked on.

Podcast fans love going down rabbit holes to listen to everything their favorite creators have been a part of. With credits, fans easily click from one credited show to the next, bookmarking episodes and adding podcasts they discover to lists. To tap into this process, it’s crucial to thoroughly add credits to all of your work.

Podcasting Resume

Credits on your creator page and podcast page also works as a podcasting resume. Just like a work resume, Podchaser creator and podcast pages are designed to highlight your work experience with a polished and digestible presentation. With one easy to share link, your podcast work instantly looks professional, increasing your value to potential advertisers or future guests.

Brands

Brands can also use credits in a variety of ways depending on their goals. Advertisers, for instance, can quickly find creators and shows they’d like to work with, while PR professionals can target podcasts for their clients to be guests on.

Credits allow advertisers to go to a podcast’s Podchaser page and quickly vet the show based on their guests, collaborators, and show description.

And PR professionals can find opportunities for guest placement by finding podcasts with guests who are similar to their client.
