J. Kehaulani Kauanui is an Associate Professor of American Studies and Anthropology. She earned her PhD in History of Consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2000. Kauanui was part of a six-person steering committee that founded the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association (NAISA) in 2008. Kauanui's first book is Hawaiian Blood: Colonialism and the Politics of Sovereignty and Indigeneity (Duke University Press, 2008). Her second book project (in-progress), Thy Kingdom Come: The Paradox of Hawaiian Sovereignty, is a critical study on gender and sexual politics and the question of Hawaiian indigeneity in relation to state-centered Hawaiian nationalism. She is the sole producer and host of the public affairs radio program, "Indigenous Politics: From Native New England and Beyond" which airs on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month from 1-2pm EST on WESU, Middletown, CT starting in February 2013. The show previously aired from February 2007 through June 2012 and was syndicated on nine Pacifica-affiliate stations airing across ten US-states. Additionally, Kauanui is a member of The Dream Committee, a radio collective that produces a program called Horizontal Power Hour (also on WESU), which features anarchist politics. The LLM (Masters Degree in Law) Subject Forum at the University of Cambridge Faculty of Law is an event held at the beginning of each academic year to help LLM students decide which courses to take. Course convenors for each course discuss for approximately ten minutes the syllabus, goals and objectives of their course. Potential applicants to the LL.M. viewing these presentations must bear in mind the students who were in the audience were intended as the target audience. Most of the courses offered in a year will run in subsequent years, but not necessarily all of them. Please check the appropriate LLM Curriculum for further information. The Institute of Criminology holds an annual international conference on Evidence Based Policing, Chaired by Professor Lawrence Sherman in association with the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) and the Society for Evidence Based Policing (SEBP).
