Steven’s Mixed Tapes – Volume 1 EP98
Growin' Up Rock
Episode Description: The idea behind Steven's mixed tapes is basically to play some great rock music while sharing a few stories about growing up. Steven's mixed tapes is basically my version of a radio show. Radio wishes it played kick ass music like this and without the commercials or yearly subscription fees. What’s The Story: When I was a kid in school, I made it a point to put together mixed cassettes of all the bands and songs I loved. Everytime a new record came out or I read about some band in Kerrang magazine, I picked up the cassette and dubbed it off in my state of the art duel cassette player. I would bring them to school the next day and share them with all my metalhead buddies. Motley Crue Top 5 With “The Dirt” Movie Review – EP091
Growin' Up Rock
Episode Description: This week, we pick our Top 5 Motley Crue songs. Plus you'll hear our opinions and review of "The Dirt," a Netflix movie release of Motley Crue's biography. What's The Story?? By now all of the Rock n Roll faithfuls have carved out time to check out "The Dirt" on Netflix. If you haven't, what are you waiting for? On the heels of the successful Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody," and with the Elton John movie "Rocketman" coming out soon, Motley Crue finally saw their book "The Dirt" turned into a Netflix movie. We checked out the film and render our verdict, as well as spin our favorite Motley tunes. I first got into Motley Crue after a friend from California gave me a demo cassette marked "Motley Crue Leathür Records." I remember first hearing "Livewire" and thinking the music kicks ass. I thought the singer had a weird but cool voice. As time went on and "Shout At The Devil" was released, I became a huge fan. In December of '85, I worked for a local stage crew and assisted Tommy Lee's drum tech in setting up Tommy's kit for the night's show. I met Tommy that night, and several times again at later dates, and he was always cool with me. Our Best Of 2018 Part 1 – EP080
Growin' Up Rock
The end of the year is here and it's time to share our best of 2018 list. There was so much to share we broke it up into two parts with this being the first of two.  Steven and Hollywood get into the mainstream and not so mainstream for their picks. Our "Best Of" may not be your "Best Of", but even though we may not always agree, we are positive if you are a fan of hard and heavy rock music, you will find something in this show you enjoy. 2018 proved one thing, rock is far from being dead. The year saw an amazing amount of  rock n roll albums released in 2018. We saw new music coming from artist like Greta Van Fleet, Judas Priest, Halestorm, Stryper, Enuff Z' Nuff,  The Struts, Slash, Ace Frehley, and The Dead Daisies, just to name a few. Sonny and Steven discuss some of the great music released, and some of the Not so great music released in 2018, along with some of their favorite, podcast, movies, concerts, and tv shows. Back 2 Back Album Awesomeness – EP101
Growin' Up Rock
Episode Description: We celebrate back 2 back album release awesomeness. In addition I give my review of the recent Dio Hologram concert. What’s The Story: People in the music business have been using the term “sophomore jinx” for years to describe bands that had all their lives to write an amazing debut album, only to follow it up with a heaping pile of crap. In this episode we celebrate a few of our favorite bands that released 2 albums back 2 back that were killer from start to finish. This does not need to be the first 2 albums in a bands catalog, but merely 2 albums that were released back 2 back in the band's career. In addition to all of that great rock n roll, I give the details of the Dio hologram concert I recently attended. Was Dio eaten by a dragon on stage? Does he appear in the latest Game Of Thrones? Does he greet you at the door of the concert venue? Find out all the answers, as I cover it in detail. Vinnie Vincent Family Tree – EP028
Growin' Up Rock
Vinnie Vincent is a mystery, he’s an enigma, in fact he’s a mystery wrapped up in an enigma. He is a talented songwriter, guitar player, producer and studio engineer, and even has some vocal abilities as you will hear from some of the demos. In order to unwrap this enigma, we needed to bring in the heavy artillery, so we went after our favorite Vinnie Vincent geek, our buddy and special guest Chris Czynszak from the Decibel Geek Podcast. Steve, Hollywood, and Chris are getting ready for the upcoming Atlanta Kiss Expo, and what better way to do this, then by exploring the Vinnie Vincent Family Tree. We discuss Vinnie’s early years, his time in Kiss, and The Invasion. We get into some rare demos from Warrior and talk about some of the interesting recordings we have come across including songs with The Bangles, Wendy O’ Williams, Jeff Scott Soto, and John Waite. and if that was not enough, we bust Sonny's balls about being a social media icon. Don't miss the music or laughs and check out this episode. We are sure you will not regret it. This will kick off an amazing several week of Kiss related content, from upcoming interviews with Kiss FAQ host Julian Gill, Bob Kulick, Klassik '78, and some other special surprises. It will all bubble over into February with releases of our coverage of the Atlanta Kiss Expo.   Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell us yours @ growinuprock.com   Follow us on Twitter and Instagram  @growinuprock Like us and leave us a review on our FaceBook page - @ growinuprock Subscribe to our Podcast at the platform of your choice and leave us a review   Support Music / Artist / and Your Favorite Podcast   Growin’ Up Rock Amazon Store Vinnie Vincent Music Kiss John Waite John Norum Audrey Horne Decibel Geek Podcast Atlanta Kiss Expo
