Deeyah Khan

Deeyah Khan is a musician, documentary film director, and human rights activist. She has received two Emmy Awards winner and two BAFTA nominations. She is best known for her documentary film, "White Right: Meeting The Enemy."Khan has made four documentaries. She is the founder and CEO of the production company Fuuse, which specializes in documentary films and content for television and events. She is also the founder and editor-in-chief of sister-hood Magazine, which spotlights the diverse voices of women of Muslim heritage.In 2016 Khan became the inaugural UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Artistic Freedom and Creativity.Khan was born in Oslo, Norway. She started her career as a girl, singing and performing traditional South Asian music in Norway. She went on to compose and produce Pakistani and North Indian classical music, despite receiving threats for doing so. At the age of 17, the backlash forced her to move to London. She became interested in film, and her first film, "Banaz A Love Story," was released in 2012.
