Ben Makuch is a journalist. He specializes in reporting on extremism, and is currently covering the rise of domestic terrorism in the U.S. and exposing the inner workings of neo-Nazi terrorist groups for VICE Media.Previously, Makuch worked for the Canadian Press’s Parliamentary Bureau. He has worked in danger zones, and has interviewed ISIS members. He is known for resisting federal counterterrorism investigators' demands that he hand over his source materials connected to Farah Mohamed Shirdon, an ISIS fighter from Calgary. Makuch's case has gone all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada.Makuch was the host of the VICEtv's documentary series "Cyberwar," which examined the world of signals intelligence and hackers. He went on to worked on the shows "VICE News Tonight" and "Fringe Nation," both for VICEtv.
