Associate Dean Academic (Student Experience) & Lead of the Molecular Biology Dementia Group at the University of Salford.Gemma is a passionate researcher of neurodegeneration and has dedicated much of her career to raising dementia awareness and supporting the next generation of talented dementia researchers. Gemma graduated from the University of Leeds with a BSc(Hons) in Neuroscience, the completed a PhD in Genomic Medicine. She then undertook Post-Docs and Fellowships focussed on Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease and Huntington’s Disease before taking on a Teaching Fellowship at the University of Salford. At Salford, she started her own lab group alongside teaching on a range of both undergraduate and postgraduate biomedicine programmes. She was promoted to lecturer, then senior lecturer, then to Associate Dean Academic (Student Experience) where she leads a portfolio of strategic projects aiming to enhance the student experience across the School of Science, Engineering and Environment and wider HE sector.
