Elmore John Leonard Jr. was an American author, who wrote novels, short stories, and screenplays. He is best known for his novels "Get Shorty," "Out of Sight," and "Rum Punch," which was adapted into the film "Jackie Brown." Leonard began his writing career in the 1950s with Westerns fiction, but later he specialized in crime thrillers, many of which have been adapted into motion pictures.
