George Arnett Hodgman was an editor and memoirist.
Hodgman arrived in New York in 1983 and became an editor for Simon & Schuster. He then became an editor at Vanity Fair, then Talk magazine, after that, Henry Holt, where he was an executive editor, and then Houghton Mifflin, where he was a senior executive editor.
Hodgman left New York to move back to Missouri when his aging mother needed full-time care. His subsequent memoir, which was centered on this experience, "Bettyville: A Memoir," was published in 2015.
Hodgman received his degree in English and magazine journalism from the University of Missouri, and his M.A. from Boston College.
Hodgman died in 2019.
