J. Walter Sterling is a tutor and former dean at St. John’s College, Santa Fe, where he has been part of the teaching faculty since 2003. He has worked to defend St. John’s classical and radical model of liberal education while guiding the college through a tuition reset, financial restructuring, and a $325 million capital campaign. Sterling holds a B.A. from St. John’s, Annapolis, an M.A. in philosophy from Emory University, and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. He has also taught at Loyola University Maryland, Temple University, and Gwynedd Mercy University. He participates in marathons and triathlons and lives with his wife and two sons.
