Ken Aldrich is a serial entrepreneur and funder of seed stage companies. What that means is that he has founded a series of new companies on his own or with partners (11 to be exact) and has also been a source of financing for a large number of startups founded and managed by others (probably 50 or more, but he has lost track).

He's what I would call a serial entrepreneur, having started 11 companies of varying degrees success. This conversation takes a couple fascinating turns as Ken discusses $100+ million dollar exits and business ideas that have continued to pay him every year for 10+ years. In addition to his own ventures, he's been investing in companies for the past 18 years. Through all of this, he began to notice a thread that ran through successful entrepreneurs -- an entrepreneurial mindset -- so he put pen to paper and wrote a new book called The Dream Toolbox: Building an Entrepreneurial Mind and Financial Abundance. In this conversation, Ken Aldrich and Jonny discuss: Friction points: why you must find them if you are going to succeed in business Business partners: good ones are worth seeking out, but they must complement your strengths and weaknesses There is a solution to every problem you will encounter in your life and business Now let's hack... 515: Kenneth Aldrich - Create an Entrepreneurial Mind
So much of our success depends on what’s going on inside and how we react to the challenges along the way. If you don’t work on your mindset, you’ll end up giving up when facing adversity. You might even be too afraid to start. Unless you spend time figuring out your ultimate goal, visualize that goal, and take action to accomplish it, you’ll find yourself spinning your wheels. Your path to your goals likely won’t be a straight line. For example, I wrote my book Lingo for creative entrepreneurs, and now I’m being hired by companies to work with their HR departments. I would have never thought I’d end up working in these areas, but if I had never started I would have never found this new path. I had to have the confidence to begin writing my book and the belief that I could follow through. To dive deeper into the idea of changing the inside to affect the outside result, I’ve brought on author and venture capitalist, Kenneth Aldrich. He is the cofounder of the International Stem Cell Corporation, a publicly-traded regenerative medicine company and is an active member of the Tech Coast Angels, the largest angel investment organization in the United States. He’s a graduate of Harvard Law and has founded over eleven companies. Kenneth describes the methods of creating an entrepreneurial mind as a “Dream Toolbox.” To learn how to utilize your Dream Toolbox, download this episode now. THE CAPTAIN WARRIOR   “The shortest route is rarely the fastest” - Kenneth Aldrich Highlights - An entrepreneurial mind sees every obstacle as a puzzle, not as a barrier.  Active Dreaming is when you take a look at your vision and revisit it daily in the mirror. A dream is nothing but a wish if you don’t take action. You control your reaction to what happens. Write down the three most pressing problems you’re facing and write down three solutions. The shortest route is rarely the fastest- this is true in sailing and business. Plot out the targets you need to hit on the way to your ultimate goal. Success is not a Zero-Sum Game. There is no winner and loser. Kenneth Aldrich is bringing you the Dream Toolbox to help you make your dreams reality
Episode 261 with Kenneth Aldrich
Because I have been blessed to have many years of success in entrepreneurship and seed stage investing, I am now trying to pay my success forward by creating a series of blog posts that are designed for young people and their parents and mentors as a roadmap to developing the mindset and skills needed to be a success outside the traditional job market. My dream is to create a toolbox of those skills and mindsets that can make dreams come true. The Dream Toolbox, a series of short podcasts that are designed to open windows of economic opportunity that most people don’t know even exist and to provide a set of skill based tools that can lead almost anyone from a low-income existence to wealth and financial abundance. But before beginning, I need to ask you a question: Are you content with your life as it is right now? If you don’t have those things and are not content to stay where you are, then stick with us and I’ll show you how almost anyone can stop living in the bottom of the economic ladder and achieve success.
