Ruth Ann Harnisch, born in 1950, is an American investor, activist, philanthropist, writer, and professional coach. She began her career in journalism as a television news anchor and radio talk show host, and Forbes cited her as one of the first women to anchor an evening news broadcast. Her reporting work at WTVF-TV in Nashville, Tennessee led to an Emmy nomination, followed by an award-winning career in radio and print media. Harnisch later established a pro bono coaching practice and founded the Harnisch Foundation, where she serves as president. Through the foundation, she launched initiatives including Awesome Without Borders, SupporTED, and Funny Girls, and supported the creation of the coaching department at McLean Hospital and journalism programs at Kennesaw State University and Baruch College. She received the International Association of Coaching Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016, and MSNBC named her among notable women’s rights activists. Her film credits include executive producer roles on Unrest, The Hunting Ground, The House of Tomorrow, Columbus, Love the Sinner, and Lucky.
