Scott Martin is a marketing Entrepreneur.
People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care, so if you really focus on that, first, then people will listen to your messageMarketing is about bringing extreme value. You need to jump at opportunities, say "Yes" more to stuff, even if you're not comfortable at the time.If you're in business, or you're trying to build a community, and it's not something you're passionate about, you're going to fail.If you're committed to excellence, you're committed to doing this consistently regardless of the evidence that you got results there. All that matters is that we're focused on trying to share and give value to help people improve their lives, and make it better.Nature can replicate how you need to build your business. Think about growth. If you're focused on growth, how do you grow? You can't throw a seed and then expect it to give you results. You have to water it, you have to give it time, you have to be patient. The ultimate growth act is patience.A lot of things that I do are because I'm trying to test and trying new things too.I feel my calling is to help entrepreneurs be in control of their marketing span, to skill themselves and be an advocate for the business owners, so they know how to build their businesses. An Arabic quote that I love, says, "Dig a well before you're thirsty." So, my saying is, build an audience before you need it.If you really think about not just communities as being a community, think of it as also being individual channels, and people react and interact in these different channels in very different ways.Think of every social channel as a different soil type, and each soil type is in different areas, where rain falls differently, and things grow differently.Give yourself a break from trying to put too much pressure on yourself. That's probably one of the biggest things that I would see what prevents people from doing a live video course, is they're too hard on themselves because they don't believe that they have a voice.Don't play small. Think of it like this, what would you do, if you were 10X the size of the company you are right now? Think big and be honest to yourself. My big superpower is meditation. I'm trying to put myself in the mindset of going, "How can I ask the Universe to give me the most creative, most sharp-minded, interesting ideas, either for creative design, or creative thinking, or for marketing.Have a routine that puts you in a state of mind, whether it's a music song you play or something you want to read to remind yourself, do something. Those are the things that make you feel have that sort of confidence going right into it.As long as I'm congruent with my values, I feel fulfillment. On this episode of Mindset Mashup, we are talking with Scott Martin about the importance of building a community, the importance of having patience, the importance of thinking long term and really nurturing the seeds that you plant and fostering a personalized one-on-one relationship, where you think bigger.Scott Martin is a serial entrepreneur and badass marketing executive strategist, of over 25 years in digital direct, social content production and so much more.  Everything that Scott does really comes from his heart.Scott has built up these amazing communities, in social media, whether it be Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest. Today on the show we’ll be talking a lot about mindset, techniques for optimizing your life, and marketing, marketing, marketing. My guest, Scott Martin has been a professional strategic marketer for as long as he can remember. He’s worked for big agencies, startups, and founded multiple growth marketing and content-related businesses. He has a passion for the the outdoor and adventure space,  especially if it involves being in the backcountry with his snowboard or near a big swell with a surfboard, and he’s largely built his businesses with those types of clients in mind. He is the founder of Groundswell Marketing, and co-founder of Laundromat Studios - a content creation company, and Swellness which is a surf inspired fitness and wellness company.    Scott has spent the last year on a pilgrimage of sorts. Through a couple of eye-opening and life changing experiences, he decided to double down and invest in himself. He’s been to countless conferences, seminars, and summits - met and learned from huge household names, and read and travelled constantly - all in the name of optimizing his mindset, perspective, and skill set.    In this episode in particular, Scott and I talk a lot about Tony Robbins, because at the time of recording we had literally just finished a 4 day event with Tony. Scott had been talking to me about this event for months, and I finally decided what the hell, I’ll give it a try. Let’s just say, I was pleasantly surprised. Regardless of whether you have either a good or bad connotation of Tony, all I ask is that you keep an open mind to what we talk about, and more broadly to Tony’s approach if you decide to research him.  No matter how whacky or out there it may seem my bet is that you might just get something profound from it.    Last thing before we get started, I want to give a shout to one of my listeners Zach LaPerierre, who’s an adventurepreneur that makes these beautiful wooden bowls from salvaged old growth trees, in the Tongass Rainforest in Sitka, AK. Zach has this really cool lifestyle and an amazing adventure story around his business, and when he reached out to me, I just loved his story. We got talking and he mentioned he thinks a lot about marketing, and how to improve his efforts. Well Zach, hopefully you get something out of this episode on marketing, and if I can help with anything else, happy to do it man.   Show Resources: Scott's Website Scott's Instagram Swellness Tony Robbins  Gary Vaynerchuk
