Wendell Steavenson is a writer and journalist.
Steavenson spent much of her professional life in the Caucasus and the Middle East, living at various times in Moscow, Tbilisi, Nagorno Karabakh, Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus, Beirut, Cairo and Jerusalem. She reported for Slate, The Guardian, the Financial Times, Granta and The New Yorker. Her first book, "Stories I Stole: A Journey to Georgia," was published in 2002.
For the past several years, Steavenson has been based in France, and her writing has shifted to fiction about food. Her first novel, "The Paris Metro," was published in 2018.
