William Trevor

William Trevor Cox, known by his pen name William Trevor, was a novelist, playwright, and short story writer. He is regarded as one of the greatest contemporary writers of short stories in the English language. His stories are set in England and his native Ireland.Trevor received his B.A. in History from Trinity College Dublin in 1950, and then taught history at a school in Armagh, Northern Ireland, from until 1952, when he left Ireland. He taught art and Rugby in Taunton, England, until he became a full-time writer.Trevor's first novel, "A Standard of Behaviour," was published in 1958. He won the Whitbread Prize three times, and the International Nonino Prize in 2008. In 2014, he was bestowed Saoi by the Aosdána.Trevor died in 2016.
