The Dead Daisies Interview – EP006

A funny thing happened on the way to a Dead Daisies concert. Hear all about our crazy adventure, as I jumped on a tour bus before the show to have a sit down with Daisies bass player Marco Mendoza to discuss the recent European tour and current tour as well as some of his earliest memories he has getting into music and rock n roll. Marco has been a part of musical awesomeness like Whitesnake, Black Star Riders, Thin Lizzy, Lynch Mob, and Ted Nugent. Enjoy and don’t forget to check out the concert review on growinuprock.com.   Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell us yours @ growinuprock.com Like us at our Twitter and FaceBook page - @ growinuprock Subscribe to our Podcast at Apple Podcast and leave us a review Buy Music: Dead Daisies The Dives Websites: Dead Daisies The Dives Marco Mendoza

Steve Stevens Interview – EP043

The amazing and super talented Grammy award winning guitarist Steve Stevens is interviewed  on this episode of the Growin' Up Rock Podcast. Long time Billy Idol guitarist and songwriter Steve Stevens was gracious enough to spend time with me and tell me some of his rock n roll story. In this interview we cover a massive amount of ground in Steve's career starting with his youth and growing up in NY to currently planning a summer tour with Billy Idol. We discuss his long time partnership with Billy Idol, putting his name on the Atomic Playboys project, the many collaborations he's had with Vince Neil, Michael Jackson, and The Top Gun soundtrack just to name a few. Steve picks a few choice cuts to play that just don't get enough love from his work with Vince Neil, The Atomic Playboys Project and of course Billy Idol. As always, we believe in music and the artist that create it. Get our there and support live and recorded rock n roll music. Listen up Growin' Up Rock Listeners!! Prince, We Like It Heavy – EP042

We Love Prince and we like it heavy, so we want to celebrate the rock n roll side of his music on this 2nd anniversary of his passing. Legends never die.  “I never meant to cause use any sorrow, I never meant to cause you any pain…”  Whether Prince was preaching to the crowd, telling a personal story or encouraging everyone to get funky, the messages were loud and clear.  Although he is no longer physically present, he lives with us through his incredible music. On We like it heavy: Prince we discuss the iconic artist, Prince.  Although we all love “the hits”, we go a little deeper and cover the more guitar driven rock tracks.  There are not many mainstream artists that appeal to the hardcore rock/heavy metal fans. It’s just not cool in our narrowly focused world.  But, Prince seemed to connect to everyone. So, whether you love pop, R&B, rock, or funk, there is Prince music for everyone at Growin’ Up Rock.  Turn it up! Help us fund the Rock N Pod Expo 2 this year in Nashville. Dokken Top 5 At This Minute – EP057

It’s been a long time coming but we are finally doing a Dokken Top 5 List. On this episode we spin the Dial O’ Destiny and pick our top 5 favorite Dokken tunes. At least at this minute. Sonny and I are such huge Dokken fans, we found it impossible to pick just 5 of our favorite Dokken songs, so for the sake of time, as in we don’t have enough, we decided to capture a moment in time and record our favorites at this minute. Rockin' with Dokken is definitely a Growing Up Rock pasttime for Hollywood and me, and picking our favorite songs is like asking “Do you want cheese and bacon on that burger”? - Answer - UMMMMM - YES and YES!!! We also talk about our recent adventures in concert going, and how we think the economics of our universe will vastly improve the human and alien relationships of the future. OK - so I made that last part up, just wanted to see if you actually read this shit. Dokken is an American metal band formed in 1979. It split up in 1989 and reformed four years later. The band had three charting singles ("Alone Again", "In My Dreams" and "Burning Like a Flame") and have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. Stryper’s Michael Sweet – EP049

Stryper has been a Growin' Up Rock part of my life since they released the Yellow and Black Attack back in 1984. Singer and lead guitarist Michael Sweet is an amazing singer and we feel criminally underrated as a guitar player, so it is an honor to have him sit in with us on today's podcast. We talk to Michael about some of his earliest memories and influences, and we get into Stryper's latest release "God Damn Evil."  Check out GUR co-host Sonny Pooni's album review right here. Michael is the driving force behind Stryper and he appears to be one of the hardest working men in rock n roll, with solo projects, Stryper albums, touring, Sweet and Lynch records, etc. When does this dude find the time to do stuff, like you know SLEEP!?! To me, it seems like the music the band has been releasing on the last two albums is as good, if not better, than anything they released in their so called "Hey Day." I say their "Hey Day" is today!! So grab your bible (just kidding, no preaching here, this is a rock show) and turn it up while you check out the latest episode of the Growin' Up Rock podcast. • over 1 year ago

On this episode of Growin’ Up Rock with Steven Michael, we jump on the phone for a fun and enlightening conversation with Sam Kiszka, bassist and keyboard player for the hot new young band Greta Van Fleet. Hero Albums To Zero Albums – EP020

Ever heard of the Sophomore Jinx? Sometimes a band can spend their entire career writing that absolute gem of a debut album, only to follow it up with a complete failure. Sometimes that so called sophomore jinx even happens in the middle of a band's career.   Steve and Sonny get into a fun conversation about some bands they love, that produced a fantastic album, only to follow it up with a less than stellar offer. So in other words they went from a hero of an album to a complete Zero, by dropping an atomic stink bomb of a record. Agree to disagree with some of our fine selections? Let us know all about it.   Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell us yours @ growinuprock.com   Follow us on Twitter @growinuprock Like us and leave us a review on our FaceBook page - @ growinuprock Subscribe to our Podcast at the platform of your choice and leave us a review   Support Music / Artist / and Your Favorite Podcast   Growin’ Up Rock Amazon Store   Revolution Saints Arcade Motley Crue Scorpions Guns N Roses Kiss Bulletboys Blue Murder Extreme Shotgun Messiah Rush L.A.
