The Dead Daisies Interview – EP006

A funny thing happened on the way to a Dead Daisies concert. Hear all about our crazy adventure, as I jumped on a tour bus before the show to have a sit down with Daisies bass player Marco Mendoza to discuss the recent European tour and current tour as well as some of his earliest memories he has getting into music and rock n roll. Marco has been a part of musical awesomeness like Whitesnake, Black Star Riders, Thin Lizzy, Lynch Mob, and Ted Nugent. Enjoy and don’t forget to check out the concert review on growinuprock.com.   Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell us yours @ growinuprock.com Like us at our Twitter and FaceBook page - @ growinuprock Subscribe to our Podcast at Apple Podcast and leave us a review Buy Music: Dead Daisies The Dives Websites: Dead Daisies The Dives Marco Mendoza

Ballad To Bombastic – EP019

Some like a soft ballad, but I prefer the bombastic, Everyone that listens to the show knows Sonny likes his rock n roll, but he also love’s him some ballads. Steve on the other hand skips to the next song the second he hears a slow acoustic guitar ring out slowly through the speakers. Stevie boy likes to rock, and he does not want to slow dance to the latest Metallica song. This week we try to bridge the gap between the boys and give Steve and Sonny the best of both worlds. We talk and play songs that start out gently and woo you to a calm state before taking out that rolled newspaper and slapping you directly across your nose causing your eyes well up.   Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell us yours @ growinuprock.com   Follow us on Twitter @growinuprock Like us and leave us a review on our FaceBook page - @ growinuprock Subscribe to our Podcast at the platform of your choice and leave us a review   Special Thanks: “Grown Ups Of The Week” End of Days-band from Sacramento Jason Alexander ‘77Knighthawk Darryl Alber-hk collectibles Rick Friel Courtney Cronin Dold Adam Cox Luis Jose Ribero Tony Musallam Finnegan O’Dell Dinero Virtual Eric Valentine Ruben Garcia EMZT productions Restrayned Jody Havenot Thom 2 Dust Jake & Tom Conquer Podcast Second Press Podcast Dani Daly Craig Smith Jay Szczeblewski Bob Kulick liked his review 5 Star Reviews this week Andrew Jacobs Growin' Up Rock is an excellent rock podcast hosted by two very genuine and likeable fans of the genre, Steven Michael and Sonny Pooni.   Support Music / Artist / and Your Favorite Podcast Growin’ Up Rock Amazon Store Crank It Up Spotlight Signs of the Time-Sons of Apollo (Psychotic Symphony)   Steve’s Songs Tesla - Mama’s Fool Off Bust A Nut Dio - Don’t Talk To Stranger  - Holy Diver Warrant - Music Man - Louder Harder Faster Southgang - Tug Of War - Group Therapy Monster Magnet - Space Lord - Powertrip   Sonny’s Songs Can’t Believe-Lionsheart In for the Kill-Winger Shoot the Preacher Down-Bulletboys Out of Line-Buckcherry Coming Home-Scorpions   Kisstoric Moment Rock Bottom

Under The Influence Of The Stones – EP022

When you think of iconic rock bands, you have to think of The Rolling Stones.   Not a Stones Fan? Not everyone is, but understand that Jagger and Richards laid the blueprint for many, many rock stars to come in the late 70's, 80's, and 90's. Guys like Steven Tyler & Joe Perry, Slash & Axl, and numerous others were influenced in many ways through the music and swagger  of The Rolling Stones.    In what will be a recurring series of Growin’ Up Rock, Hollywood, and Steve will be discussing some of the most iconic and influential rock n roll bands in history, and the hard rock and metal bands that were influenced by not only their music, but the show, style, and attitude of these rock titans. In each "Under The Influence" episode, we will pick one iconic band we felt influenced many of the hard rock and metal bands we loved back in the day, and maybe some of the newer bands coming out today that we're digging on. So even if you are not a huge fan of the band we think were influential, the bands we will be featuring and the music we will be playing will be right up your alley.    Everyone knows that you can’t discuss the term rock n roll without mentioning the Rolling Stones, so we thought this was as good a place as any to start. Bands like Aerosmith, GNR, Cinderella, Hanoi Rocks, New York Dolls, Kiss, The Black Crowes, and countless others were all influenced in some way by The Rolling Stones. Word of the day: Phenomenal   Reviews: Colin Francis: “Hi there. Just wanted to say your last episode ballad is fantastic it has turned me onto some old rock bands I haven’t heard of which is unusual for me so at the moment I am checking all them bands out as we speak thanks and keep up the great work”   Jason Kearney: “I was at a show of theirs (Tesla) here in Reno where I helped shield his mom as she was center and up front for the show and they played Mama's Fool. At the end of the song he said my momma didn't raise no fool, isn't that right momma? - totally cool moment.”   “Grown Ups Of The Week” Tom Zimm Longbox Scavengers Restrayned Darryl Alber 60 minutes with podcast Thom Dust Knighthawk Jay Szczeblewski Derik Novak Podcast Rock City Save Rock N Metal Finnegan O’dell Emmanuel Goldstein Courtney Cronin Dold Eladio EMZT Productions Alexander Harry Cippotter Decibel Geek Podcast Jody Havenot Podder Than Hell Podcast Richard S Pearson Andrew Jacobs Chinokura Rock Tony Musallam Jason Alexander Digital Killed the Radio Star   Shout Out To The Following For Their Listener Stories: Neil Bees Stephen Edmondson Dennis Talbott -  “Ages Of Rock” Everyone’s got a Rock N Roll story to tell, so tell us yours @ growinuprock.com   Follow us on Twitter @growinuprock Like us and leave us a review on our FaceBook page - @ growinuprock Subscribe to our Podcast at the platform of your choice and leave us a review   Support Music / Artist / and Your Favorite Podcast   Growin’ Up Rock Amazon Store The Quireboys  -  This is Rock N Roll The Dog’s D’Amour  -  Debauchery Hanoi Rocks  -  Watcha Want The Cult-Dirty - Little Rockstar  J.Geils Band - Takin’ You Down Black Crowes - Twice As Hard

Steve Stevens Interview – EP043

The amazing and super talented Grammy award winning guitarist Steve Stevens is interviewed  on this episode of the Growin' Up Rock Podcast. Long time Billy Idol guitarist and songwriter Steve Stevens was gracious enough to spend time with me and tell me some of his rock n roll story. In this interview we cover a massive amount of ground in Steve's career starting with his youth and growing up in NY to currently planning a summer tour with Billy Idol. We discuss his long time partnership with Billy Idol, putting his name on the Atomic Playboys project, the many collaborations he's had with Vince Neil, Michael Jackson, and The Top Gun soundtrack just to name a few. Steve picks a few choice cuts to play that just don't get enough love from his work with Vince Neil, The Atomic Playboys Project and of course Billy Idol.
