Los fanáticos de horror recordarán el apellido y lo relacionarán con Kevin, pues sí, el protagonista de Tremors, El hombre invisible y debutante en Viernes 13, la primera aparición de Jason Voorhees, es su padre. Introdujo un demonio que se alimenta de las experiencias postraumáticas de sus víctimas, viendo en la perturbada mente de Rose una suculenta forma de prevalecer debido a un episodio insuperable desde su niñez, reavivado luego de presenciar aquel tragedia ocurrida a una de sus pacientes en el nosocomio. El deterioro es cronológico. Bastante bien pensado. Apenas tiene unos días para descubrir qué sucede y. no caer en el mismo infierno. Lo malo, Finn alarga bastante la putrefacción psicológica del personaje protagónico. Genera ansiedad, sí, pero al mismo tiempo hay acciones hilarantes. La tensión se rompe por los diálogos irreverentes y vuelve a comenzar el ciclo de misterio en el espectador. No hay espacio para comernos las uñas hasta llegar a lastimarnos como espectadores o para taparnos los ojos. Paramount PicturesSosie Bacon es lo mejor de la cinta.Hay un par de jump scares (saltos) efectivos, otros, predecibles por culpa del tráiler o que jamás funcionan. Gritos visuales ahogados. El camino al desenlace se vuelve bastante evidente en el momento que destreñan que es parte de una cadena diabólica elaborada por un espírituo maligno, el cual jamás llegan a explicar. Sin embargo, una vez dentro del hilo, bastante inspirado en Destino final, especulas bastante el estrepitoso final. Y se cumple. La aparición del demonio no es tan espeluznante como creíamos o nos lo dibujaron en los bocetos de la investigación; su CGI es malito y por momentos parece muy arraigado a lo que son los titanes en el anime Attack on Titan, incluso en su forma desollada. La última escena es parte de los clichés del cine de horror noventero y dosmilero: las maldiciones se heredan. 'Smile' ya está en Cinemex y Cinépolis.Ese último vistazo, quizá basado en Firestarter de Stephen King, deja la puerta abierta para una secuela que debe mejorar en guion y efectos visuales si quiere convertirse en una saga. Venus no es una porquería, tampoco es una pérdida de tiempo, simplemente es un debut regular que cayó en banalidades del género y un presupuesto austero debido a la novatez de su autor. Sosie Bacon, estupenda; el resto, muy por debajo de ella.Conocer al demonio dependerá de la remuneración que deje a Paramount Pictures. Una opción entretenida que debe tomarse bastante a la ligera este fin de semana. No se claven.
