1486:Cherish Lee is quickly becoming known as country music's "rebel with a heart of gold
Cherish Lee- Meet Cherish Lee. She is quickly becoming known as country music's "rebel with a heart of gold"! She's not only an artist, but an honest to God, down and dirty servant to all those that are beat down and in need of love.  Whether animal or person, Cherish has always had a heart to help them.  To all those she helps, she's a tattooed princess, but she's not all angel! Cherish Lee refuses to play by some of the country music industry’s biggest rules! In Lee's own words, "I refuse to pay money to make it on the ‘music charts!’ I want it to happen, because I worked my ass off, and people actually want to hear my songs! What happened to passion, story telling, rebels with a cause, and music that had its merits in how DAMN good it was, and how it made you feel?  Our forefathers in music would be ashamed of us." Lee's album cost less than $1,500 to record, reminiscent of Nirvana's first album, "Bleach", which cost $600.   Lee's first-time producer, Nate Wedan, quickly found the heartbeat of the album and added his own spectacular flair to it. Cherish says "I wanted to have the people on this album, who made my heart skip a beat when I saw them live, and that’s what I did.  I couldn't have made the album without the people I've been blessed to co-write with, all the badass musicians that worked on it and Wedan. I was respectfully allowed to be the artist, and most importantly, a mother. Nobody flinched at Wyatt (Lee's son) coming into the studio with me, and in many of the sessions, I'd be holding him while cutting vocals!"   Cherish has seen how hard the business is first hand through her father, Johnny Lee (country music legend, Urban Cowboy's "Lookin' For Love") and mother, Charlene Tilton (television sex pot vixen, Lucy Ewing on hit TV show, “DALLAS”). She quickly gained her own recognition as a singer and songwriter in THE Music City. Lee's album is truly homegrown-- a Cinderella piece that is just flat out cool.  This October 2017, Lee is releasing her first single "Tequila Cowgirl," along with her music video debut.   “Tequila Cowgirl” is about an all American girl- a hard worker; she's got her head on straight, knows right from wrong and lives by that. She loves Jesus and tequila. She loves her animals and is thankful for what she has. While she doesn't need a man and won't share her bed with just anyone, she is looking forward to meeting the right one. Any guy would be considered lucky to bring her home to meet his mama, and every girl wants to be her best friend! The song has an intimate, nostalgic feel to it with a healthy dose of country music. The full, aptly- named album, "Tequila Cowgirl" is scheduled for release in January 2018. It's honest music that tells a story, and Lee's voice conveys it beautifully, with all the attitude that her fans have come to expect from her.   Pre-sales for the single, "Tequila Cowgirl" begin October 8, 2017 on iTunes https://soundcloud.com/user-540070298-962276980/tequila-cowgirl/s-fW0qb www.cherishleemusic.com Listen to another #12minconvo

245: Twelve Minute Convos w/ Tara Marulli
We all have our challenges and struggles to overcome. Sometimes it takes us hitting rock bottom to find our hidden gem. Over the past couple of years, my life has completely turned upside down after getting hurt on the job. Due to my lifelong injuries, my teaching career would never be the same again. Looking back, I now see why things happened the way they did. Even though I loved teaching, and I absolutely adored my students, I had this overwhelming feeling that there was something else I needed to be doing…something much bigger. But like most of us, we continue to stay in the same place because it feels safe and comfortable. At first, besides being in constant pain, I started feeling sorry for myself…it was so unbelievably frustrating. If it weren’t for the continued love and support from God and the Angels, my friends and family, and my puppy, I’d be in a much worse off situation. One day, I decided enough is enough, I wasn’t going to fall victim to my unfortunate circumstances, and instead I went searching for answers within, and found my life purpose…my truth. This led me on my own personal transformational journey…I did a lot of soul searching and work on my mind, body, and soul. My true mission originated from my wounds of low self-esteem and body image issues that I endured growing up. And what I realized was that mostly all of my struggles stemmed from putting everyone else before me, and not loving myself first. Coming to that realization was a tremendous Aha moment for me, and ever since then, I’ve been empowering not only myself, but others, as well. That’s when I decided to sign up for Get Gutsy Coach Training School; I gained a lot of clarity into who I am here to serve, and connected with a group of unbelievable women. I’ve learned to take my past hurts and disappointments and turn them into something positive. My vision is to help as many women as possible learn to love and embrace themselves just as they are. We need to no longer believe what we see in the media as perfection and understand that we are all imperfectly perfect in our own way. As The Spiritual Self-Love Coach, I intuitively guide women towards getting to the root of their blocks, breaking those blocks down, and then build them back up. I help inspire, motivate, and empower women who have been struggling with low self-esteem and body image issues. Part of my mission involved teaming up with The Body Image Movement, and becoming a Body Image Movement Global Ambassador. With that, I volunteered to host a screening of the film EMBRACE the documentary to my local movie theater at Regal Ronkonkoma on November 3 at 7 pm. Screenings of this documentary are happening all across the United Sates – encouraging women locally and globally to embrace and love their bodies…absolutely phenomenal. The screening will only take place if we get 60 people to reserve their tickets ahead of time. Bring your best gals, and make it a girl’s night out! It’s unlike any other movie you will ever experience.   https://www.facebook.com/SpiritualSelfLoveCoach/ http://www.spiritualselflovecoach.com/ Credits: Musical Background: 'TAKE THE CHANCE' by Nicolai Heidlas

264: Twelve Minute Convos w/ Cole Johnson
Dynamic. Enthralling. Captivating. Unsure. Cautious. Withdrawn. All of these words can be used to capture yours truly. Born in the city nicknamed “The Big Easy,” the man whose words you’re reading began his unique journey through life. He was called many things – you could say he has been the jack of all trades. However, for a long period of time, he was the master of none of them. Having no solid direction, Saburi Chuku Cole Johnson set course for a blind soulful life. He only knew one side of his family. Why was that? It is because Cole’s father was a Black Panther Party member. Considering the political tension of the times, it precluded Cole to visit his father’s side of the family. The only family he knew resided on his mother’s side. Cole’s father is strong, determined and lived life on accentuating his strengths and minimizing his weaknesses. Hos mother is a picture of academic curiosity. Every piece of knowledge there is to gain – his mother dogmatically pursued it. This is true – for the exception of higher learned – where she is a case study of potential unfulfilled. Life lessons left the New Orleans born, Houston reared boy-turned-man continually searching for himself. He was a square peg attempting to fit into round holes. He tried the military (US Army) with no success. He tried photography with minimal success. He tried ticket scalping (it is legal in Houston to be a ticket broker) to little success. He even attempted undergrad college. You guessed it. It was met with little success, there, as well. The square peg kept getting rammed into situations that didn’t fit him. Very few things were a good fit for Cole. He found a few square holes. Writing (in many forms) is one of them. Music (voice, piano, producer, composer) is another square hole for Cole. However, even these creative outlets served as a minor relief for feeling at home with life, in general. As for other life aspects, he met a wonderful woman (after trying marriage and failing in the endeavor – ending in divorce) and more square holes started to appear. Church life (especially being in its choir), friends and his current wife, Michelle, all have served to give grounding to a man whose searched for meaning. Life began to make sense. Then – there was his undergraduate institution, Trevecca Nazarene University. The proverbial scales fell from Cole’s eyes. His world opened up to reveal clarity to certain mysteries in his life. Purpose was beginning to take share – and once he walked away with a degree, the building blocks to his life was erected. Today, he host/engineers/produces a podcast called Cole Sportz. He also is extending the brand into a membership club as he writes blogs and makes YouTube videos to strengthen the brand. Along with working at Media General as a multimedia content producer, the entrepreneurial sky is the limit for Cole. Now – the square peg is fitting into many situations these days quite well. 262: Twelve Minute Convos w/ Rachel McGehee
Rachel is a co-founder and the Director of Travel for Rebel + Connect. What I Do I am the Director of Travel at Rebel + Connect. My work with remote team leaders allows them to gain insight about where to travel and what to do once they arrive. As a leader it’s important to know: Where your team is willing and able to travel. What sort of travel experiences and cultural immersion will add to your team’s retreat. That expanding the worldviews of your team members will enhance teamwork. That exposure to diverse cultures inspires servant leadership within your organization. Why I Do It Being part of the Rebel + Connect leadership team allows me to share the magic of travel, elevate and ignite the passions of each team member, and enhance the harmony of remote team cultures. Where I Come From Before joining forces with Charlie and Summer to build Rebel + Connect, I held many different travel and hospitality related roles including: Ambassador for WorldVentures helping with the production and execution of events as large as 20,000 in attendance; Ski Instructor in Beaver Creek, CO with Vail Resorts and Mount Buller in Victoria, AUS; Independent Travel Photographer; Mission Trip Leader for Hug It Forward; Co-Founder of Project K1; and Co-Founder of Art in the City: a Children's Summer Art Experience. I earned a BS in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, a BA in Fine Art Photography, and am a certified Pranic healer. In 2015, I was named Volunteer of the Year for the Americas by the WorldVentures Foundation. These experiences have taught me that travel is less about fancy resorts and tourist attractions and more about servant leadership and responsible global citizenship. I was born and raised in Atlanta, but have identified as a nomad for most of my adult life. I was almost 29 years old before I paid rent at the same address for a full year. I have visited Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, France, England, Italy, Netherlands, Vatican City, Canada, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Cayman Islands, Bonaire, Ghana, Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, 34 of the 50 states and, and South America and Antarctica are the only continents I have yet to visit. I believe in the importance of connecting to the creative spirit of the inner child. I believe in creating and cultivating joy any chance we can. I believe in the fulfillment of the self in order to fill others. When we brighten our own flame within, and all of us come together, we burn as a bigger, warmer, more luminous flame than we ever thought possible. What I Love I celebrate my life by connecting with family and friends, nature, speaking my truth, leading with my heart, attending burns and music festivals, exploring the ocean through scuba diving, skiing, snowboarding, horseback riding, and practicing monkey kung fu, yoga, and meditation. Geoff’s Story In late 2000, I suffered from a bout of viral meningitis which was the start of my journey through my own hell, I recovered but within a year I was struck again, this triggered a series of severe stress related conditions that caused me to be bed bound for a year sleeping almost 20 hours a day, followed by a further 4 of being housebound. I struggled with severe depression, anxiety, guilt and many other debilitating mental and physical conditions including severe lethargy, chronic migraines, racking muscular pain, poor concentration and memory. 2006 my life was getting to much for me so I left the house with every intention of ending my life. It was during this dark time that something amazing happened, I heard my eldest sons voice telling me to stop. It was at that moment something triggered a determination that I had never felt before and that was to learn everything I could to understand what makes people tick, what takes them from a state of despair or severe stress to making massive positive changes in their lives. That question became my mission Credits: Musical Background: 'TAKE THE CHANCE' by Nicolai Heidlas

He finished over 50 triathlons including 4 Ironman distance races (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run). A couple of Brian’s favorite races were Ironman Canada in 1989 (his first Ironman) and the 2005 Vineman Ironman race (where his son Michael was able to run across the finish line with him).   Cyclist Brian wasn’t satisfied with just riding his bike to school as a kid…he had to take it to a whole different level and ride it across the United States! Brian accomplished a life-long goal of riding his bicycle across America when he joined a group of fellow philanthropic bicyclists to raise money for charity and rode from Seattle to Washington D.C. in 1996. The trip was one of the highlights of Brian’s life. Brian has written stories about some of his triathlon and cycling experiences in his blogs and book Finding Your Voice.   Coming Soon Brian is currently writing an untitled memoir, two scripts with his screenwriting partner Susannah Rose Woods, and his second children’s book. Michael has been blind since birth, and went to public school surrounded by sighted peers. He started teaching assisted technology in 2011, but when his mother passed away unexpectedly that year he returned home to Montana to be with his family. He started looking for ways to make money online and go onto Craigslist, where he found a Cost Per Action (CPA) opportunity, which paid him to get leads for companies such as Netflix and Audible. He enjoyed it, but felt there was something missing. In 2014, he started building the foundation of his own brand, and built a tightknit community of interactive followers. This evolved into him coaching others. Credits: Musical Background: 'TAKE THE CHANCE' by Nicolai Heidlas

161: Twelve Minute Convos w/ Kate Stalter
CMO and Senior Financial Advisor You don’t need someone to pick stocks or time the market. Those activities, touted non-stop in the financial media, have absolutely nothing to do with your personal financial goals. That’s why Kate Stalter founded Better Money Decisions: People face any number of financial decisions these days. But with the financial media encouraging all kinds of bad behavior – like trying to predict market direction or gambling on what the Federal Reserve might do – the odds are stacked against the person just trying to make good financial decisions for the short and long-term. Before becoming a Series 65-licensed advisor several years ago, Kate wrote in-depth market analysis for Investor’s Business Daily. She hosted the Daily Stock Analysis and Market Wrap videos on Investors.com, and taught Investor’s Business Daily live seminars throughout the country. She also hosted the Small Cap Roundup radio show on the Tiger Financial News Network, interviewed hundreds of asset managers for the “Daily Guru” feature on MoneyShow.com, and wrote mutual-fund analyses for Benzinga.com. Although she still contributes to Forbes, US News & World Report and TheStreet, Kate’s primary focus is helping clients around the country who face decisions about portfolio allocation, Social Security strategies, insurance needs, estate planning, college funding and all manner of financial questions. “Although financial decision-making becomes more complicated every year, many people still believe a financial advisor’s value comes from stock picking and timing the market. But that’s not the value. In fact, that’s speculating and gambling – exactly the opposite of good financial decision-making,” Kate says. Kate has a fiduciary duty to put clients first. As her client that means understanding your unique goals and concerns. It means being your coach throughout different market and economic cycles and helping you stay on track, even while the TV anchors and magazine writers tell you the world is coming to an end. “Investors continue to be hurt because some TV anchor says it’s time to panic. That TV anchor, meanwhile, has no responsibility for your well-being in retirement – or even if you are able to retire,” Kate says. Kate enjoys helping people make those “peace of mind” financial decisions. For example, the age at which you and your spouse begin taking Social Security can make a tremendous difference in your household income over the next few decades. Nobody wants to leave $100,000 or more on the table – but it happens all the time! This is the kind of situation Kate helps clients avoid, in favor of making better decisions about money! A graduate of Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, Kate spends fall Saturdays watching the Fighting Irish on the gridiron. Her MBA alma mater is Northwestern, so she also likes to see the Wildcats win, unless they are playing Notre Dame! She has a houseful of rescued animals, and is trying to get her 5K speed just a tiny bit faster. 210: Twelve Minute Convos w/ David Hooper
David Hooper is an author, radio host, and marketing expert who works with entrepreneurs and brands to build their authority and influence to increase sales and more effectively spread their messages. The story starts a few years ago… I released a book called Six-Figure Musician – How to Sell More Music, Get More People to Your Shows, and Make More Money in the Music Business. As the title suggests, it was written for musicians and the people who work with them — managers, record labels, etc. I was entrenched in the music business, over the years working with hundreds of acts, from bands just getting started to legendary artists you’ve heard and probably own music by. I’ve seen all aspects of how “celebrity” is created and maintained, from street and media promotion, to live event production, to the behind-the-scenes of film and television. But after 20 years in the trenches, I was done. I wanted new challenges. And that’s how I got here. The same techniques I’ve used to help musicians to grow their fanbases, spread their music, and make money in the music business will work to help authors, bloggers, and podcasters grow their audiences, spread their work, and make money in their businesses. The music business, more than any other industry, has been changed by technology and how entertainment is now consumed. We were the “pioneers” who had to figure out how to work with illegal downloads, changing distribution methods, and how to get attention for our work in a crowded marketplace of more entertainment choices than ever. And we did. As a creative professional, it’s easy to get lost in the crowd. If you need help standing out (and making money while doing it), you’re in the right place. www.23hours.com Credits: Musical Background: 'TAKE THE CHANCE' by Nicolai Heidlas
208: Twelve Minute Convos w/ Tori Reid
Tori started in the online business world as a freelance ghostwriter. Eventually she landed gigs at Lifehacker and Hack College where she provided tech oriented productivity tips to the world. In learning to sell her own services and land client she soon realized she had fallen in love with marketing. She spent a year completely transitioning to be a digital marketing provider. She now spends her time helping bootstrappers bring their dreams to fruition through coaching, mentoring, and an array of digital marketing services. She founded the Bootstrap Millennial blog as a free resource to provide guidance to those who are seeking it but don't necessarily have the financial resources to pay for the answers elsewhere. From there you can purchase her book on how to create impactful content that spreads, her course on how to get published on The Huffington Post, or her time. All of her products and services are priced affordably for her market. "I love a bootstrapper, because that's my story. I lived it, I've been working along side others who've lived it, and that story is at the root of all of my knowledge and growth in this industry. The raw passion of bootstrappers is at the core of what drives and inspires me now. With that being said it only makes sense to me that I cater to those who are seeking to share in the bootstrapping experience." www.bootstrapmillennial.com
