This has been one of my favorite educational podcasts of the decade.
Holy cow. Just discovered this podcast and after only a few minutes I'm hooked. Not only is the subject matter incredibly interesting, but it's very well produced.
Hello! My name is Ken. As a fellow podcaster, I know how important reviews can be to creators like us. That’s why, in the spirit of the season, I’ve decided to give your podcast 5 stars. If you’re also feeling in a giving mood, feel free to review mine as well! It’s called PRRP, which stands for Podcast Reviews Reviews Podcast. (It’s a podcast that reviews the reviews of its podcast.) Happy holidays!
Easily my favorite podcast. I’ve been listening for years. I’ve learned so many things I didn’t know I needed to know. As far as I know this is also the first podcast in the Radiotopia Podcast Network. 99PI also features and showcases many other similar and great podcasts. It’s a great into show to the Podcast world in general. My one criticism is that the number of ads ave increased through the years and the some of the more recent episodes are more political or topical than I’d like.
This is the podcast you'd always wanted to hear in schools and university. I think I've yet to hear a 99pi episode that fails to capture my attention. Which is kind of remarkable for a show that is mostly concerned with the everyday, mundane stuff of life. Sometimes the podcast highlights curious bits of history or geography, but it's usually about the often unexpected ways design influences our daily lives, and how small improvement in design can have huge benefits. Kurt Kohlstedt, Roman Mars and the rest of the 99pi team always manage to make each subject they address into an interesting, captivating story, and Roman Mars is an excellent narrator. Production and editing is always flawless. Beautiful nerds rule this world.
Lavishly produced and relentlessly fascinating. I never would have imagined loving a podcast out of an architectural firm, which is what makes it such an amazing discovery.
This was one of the first podcasts I ever listened to and I am still here almost 10 years later so that must say something about the compelling nature of this show. If you have ever noticed that pattern that feels like it is on every textile suddenly or had an itch to find out about the history of the building in your city that sticks out like a sore thumb, chances are the 99PI crew has investigated it and has an answer. This podcast takes you through the built environment with a mindful eye towards how the decisions designers make impacts everyday life. The team has grown over the years and seems more diverse than ever which is a testament to Roman Mars as a leader (I think of him as the spearhead of the great Radiotopia podcast network). I am not even worried they will miss a beat with the departure of the good and great Avery Trufelman. I also think Mars may have invented (or at least popularized) the post-credit mini segment which is now ubiquitous so props for innovation. If you like this show, you should really check out the memory palace. It is a sibling podcast that Mars admits was the inspiration for the way he builds a show and it is a lovely listening experience.
Love this podcast. It often points out things that are around you everyday and things that make our world work smoothly that we don't typically notice. It would be a 5 star rating if politics were omitted when they don't need to be inserted.
One of the best podcasts out there!
99% Invisible is my favorite podcast of all time. That's it. That's the review.
So Interesting
99% Invisible is my all-time favorite podcast, always revealing something profound, meaningful, and funny, about the side-effects and strengths of humans' designed world. Roman Mars is a relaxed, masterful storyteller with the broadest possible view of the concept of "design", encompassing nearly all of human constructive activity, from language to skyscrapers. It's a bonus that the show is clear and clean enough to be enjoyed together with my eight-year-old daughter.
Every episode of 99% Invisible is entertaining and interesting. Roman Mars is a talented host and introduces content with the perfect measure of enthusiasm and objectivity. The sound design is amazing. A must-listen.
Thorough and well-produced dives into the world design! I love it! I've yet to listen to a disappointing episode.
My favorite. Roman has a voice like honey butter.
A staple of great podcasting.
Roman Mars might have the best voice in podcasting. The stories are always well done and usually cover things you might not notice around you. Favorite episode from 2019: Play Mountain.
This is my favorite nonfiction podcast! It's endlessly interesting and always makes for a wonderful listen.
Really beautifully told stories with gorgeous audio. But the ad-to-pod ratio is absolutely ridiculous and epsiodes are re-released in the feed too frequently for me.
Listen to Roman and his wide, wide world of (almost) invisible design and you will open doors you didn't even know were there, enter realms you never even know you cared about, and you will be a better person for so doing
