You’ve probably noticed that social media has taken a dark turn over the past few years. Politics, COVID, and tough guys behind a keyboard have produced an ugly environment that children are exposed to daily. We wondered about its effect on the next generation. Will the “new norm” produce a generation that reviles authority and thinks it can say or do anything? For this discussion, we asked an inner city youth pastor to share her experiences and to get her thoughts.
Diane Nicole Boots is the Children’s Pastor at Reach KC. A church in Kansas City, MO. She talked with us about how those children in her care are responding to current events, the role of social media in their lives and behaviors, and what the children thought about respecting authority inside and outside the church.
