RATING
A must-listen. Funny, entertaining, cringey at all the right moments, A Scottish Podcast demands a listen for those who like horror, hilarity, and—occasionally—scatological humor.
Hillarious & witty Scottish Humour in a 'Horror' podcast - is brilliant, is well worth listening to, each episode runs into about 9 minutes, and each acts like a chapter or a segment of a continuing story
ASP is a brilliant mix of sweary comedy and creepy horror and it does both of these aspects really well. Can't wait for the second season.
Fun spin on the genre.
Extremely well acted, hilarious, weird - and sometimes quite impossible to understand! This is one of my all time favorite shows, and I can listen on repeat.
A really good and funny podcast that, especially in seasons 1-2, perfectly mixes horror and humor. The actors are all really good. Season 1 is probably my favourite, season 2 has an original and amusing "side story" (or a story within a story), even though the ending for the main plot seems a bit rushed, while unfortunately I don't like the scifi element (although still grounded on the works of H.P. Lovecraft, who's the inspiration for many of the stories) of season 3 much, sending the characters (SPOILER..............) in space meant going a little too far from the original premise of the show that I've liked (spooky stories mixed with the daily lives of this group of characters), so I'm choosing to believe this space adventure is another "non canon" arc like Dougie's fantasy novel (this time it's "Dougie's scifi novel") and I hope they're coming back to Earth soon.On the podcast's website there is much bonus material, and, something that I've really appreciated since I'm not a native English speaker, you can download the transcriptions for all the season 1 episodes.
This podcast to too funny!!! If you don't have a gut to bust, don't listen to it. I've listened to all of the episodes. All of them had me in the floor laughing. Listen at your own risk. Just be prepared to laugh your A$$ off!!
I just discovered this podcast this week, two days ago in fact, and I've never been a podcast type listener. Like Dougie I mostly listen to music on Spotify. Now I'm completely enraptured by the serial and I'm like a heroin addict trying to get my next fix. I finished the first season, Halloween special, and the Christmas spirits episode with absolute glee. The writing is magnificent! Just stupendous! The characters are perfectly voiced and if I do say so myself, entrancing. I found myself leaning forward on the edge of my seat oblivious to the world around me as I followed Lee into each wild and sinister story. My favorite so far has to be St Caillic, a spooky believably real island with a history not too far fetched to be dismissed. I just cannot say enough good things about "A Scottish Podcast" and I'm sharing it with the small group of people I know who might actually listen to me and it. Digging deeper than just an entertaining story, I think the commentary about podcasts that threads itself through the supernatural storyline is insightful and worth taking a moment to recognize for the "woke" (God I hate myself for using that) message it conveys. And also the bit about paranormal activity, people chase the supernatural wanting to never get full fledged proof but glimpses of wonder and otherworldly. But tl:dr I fucking love the stories and I hope the whole cast keep doing what they're doing for as long as they can.Much appreciation from the crazy state of Florida.
A tongue-in-cheek horror series detailing the activities of a couple of ne'er-do-well musicians who decide to do a paranormal investigation podcast. From the website: "You’ll walk through the long-forgotten catacombs under Edinburgh. Sail out to the lonely and abandoned island of St.Caillic. Visit dingy pubs, run-down industrial estates, and obscure non-league football grounds." Well put together and lots of fun. Especially the Scottish accents!
This is so funny and weird, I love it so much!
Brilliant, hilarious,& well-done (as in, well-produced, not "done" like an overcooked cut of meat). Chicken or egg? Many voice-actors here appear on many other great podcasts ... this series definitely holds its own, though, but it's still fun to ID said voices...A meta podcast following podcasters, but make it Scottish! Y'all are amazing; want to buy you a pint or three!
Funny, irreverent and well thought out. An all around enjoyable audio adventure.
Season 1 - 4 starsMost of the season was entertaining. The most annoying part was the drunk lady. She was difficult to understand and I don't understand what she contributes to the show.Season 2 - DNFWhat self indulgence shite was this? The setup of the series was about two desperate Scots starting a supernatural podcast to make ends meet, and hopefully find fame and fortune in the process.Six chapters into season 2 and I don't see a supernatural mystery in sight. Instead, we get some Lord of The Rings fanfic or what felt suspiciously like a DnD campaign.Sorry. You have lost me as a listener. If you want to try something this different, save it for a separate project or once you are a couple of successful seasons in. Not on the second season when your relationship with the listeners are still developing.
It's difficult to not love the stories and experience A Scottish Podcast gives you. The characters are instantly lovable and I haven't heard a single episode where I didn't find myself audibly laughing. If you're looking for more comedy in your horror (or more horror in your comedy), you have to check out A Scottish Podcast!
I wasn't sure about this. As I kept on it got better and better. It never takes it's self too seriously. Glad I kept with it.
I'd recommend listening to the first episode twice before you really jump in... A Scottish Podcast is a podcast about a podcast made in Scotland with all the character of Scotland in its characters, and between the accents and the humor, you're going to need an adjustment period...That being said, this is the sort of paranormal investigation behind the scenes that you don't realize you need in your life. It's hilarious and well made.
Its Scottish in the best possible way.
This one is good from the jump and has some delightful surprises in it. The story swings pretty wildly between comedy and horror at times but I enjoy those tonal shifts because it seems fitting here. The production values here are high and the team is small so the release schedule is sporadic. Of course I wish there was more content, but making this stuff isn't easy or free so I'm grateful for whatever they put out and on whatever timetable works best for them.
