Hopes for a speedy recovery from COVID-19 in South Africa have been damped somewhat after health minister Zweli Mkhize said that it would suspend the AstraZeneca formula of the vaccine. The sudden U-turn comes after disappointing data showed the jab provided minimal protection against some cases of the South African variant of the Coronavirus.
