RATING
I love the characters and the format of the reports! I'm pretty pleased by how realistic the conflicts are. I'm really looking forward to the next episode!
For me, this production simply increases in quality and depth as it proceeds. It comes complete with lovely complexity and some moments of powerfully performed revelation. There are lots more bits of business that make this a story to which you'll pay attention and support.
A fantastic show! The story is told through various scientific reports, and though it might sound boring, it's anything but! Amazing voice acting and stellar sound makes this one of my all time favorite science fiction shows.
A log entry style sci-fi show that follows a team trying to study the ruins of an ancient alien site. There is plenty of great voice acting, a ton of effort in sound effects, and highly compelling relationships. The unseen threat always feels present making for a great thrill. I can't wait to see how this mystery unravels!
Engaging and exciting. Makes me wish for more, but with less high stakes.Narrative - interesting setting, mostly great world building, however the language and dialogue was often a little too 20th century. 4/5Production quality - excellent with only a few standout failures. Most notibly the footstep foley. 4/5Audio quality - excellent, recorded voices were clear and well mixed. 5/5Inclusivity - good, but the diversity of accents was a little lax 4/5Voice acting - mostly very good. Occasionally delivery was a little dry, but often it hits home. 4/5Total: 84%
A sci fiction story about xenoarchaeologists on a distant world told through their reports. Not only are the scientists super into the details, but the production team is as well. And it makes for a truly extraordinary show.
Massively fun, meticulously sound-designed, and a phenomenal example of modern science fiction.
A little slow burn, but a nice twist at the end and plenty of epilogue material to finish the story. Well acted and edited with a great soundscape.
I loved this so much and will always want more.
Almost scored this 3 stars (neutral) but I have gone for the more positive rating, as I do want more, although I think there is room for improvement. The main thing that I found difficult is that a particular character is given a lot of time . . . . with topics that were obviously important to the author, but felt out of place with the rest of the material, and appeared to reduced the time to have a credible denouement, and reduced time spent with other stronger characters. So a lot that is good, and very promising that more could happen in this universe. Quite a lot is derivative from other material, but that really is not a problem with some enjoyable characters and decent acting.
uum, the fact that I don't remember anything plot-wise only 2 weeks after I have finished it in one sitting besides it being australian? one dimensional characters and what it says on the tin
Now the first season's just wrapped up, I can say with full confidence this was great! Creepy and compelling, I did not see that finale coming. There's more than a few scifi podcasts that use entry reports to set their scene, but Among the Stars and Bones first had me interested because you get to hear from several different members of the crew, instead of just the one voice documenting.
Writing, acting, production, and sound design are first-rate. Be sure to listen with headphones or earbuds.
A phenomenal who done it with well executed sci-fi twist. I can not rave about this story enough, it truly feels like you are getting to hear a team of archeologists uncovering Earth shaking discoveries. I can't wait for more of this world and see where we go from here!
This show is genuinely brilliant. Gets you deep into the mystery of this dead planet, then slowly ratchets up the tension and mystery right up until the last episode of the season! It's an incredible ride, expertly paced, and right up your alley if you want to try and figure out Tefin's secrets before everyone else does.
I raced through this like someone was chasing me. And now I can't wait to go back and listen again. This show is just all the brilliants -- brilliantly written, brilliantly acted, brilliantly sound designed, plotted, paced, and all the other steps I left out. So absolutely compelling, I stayed up WAY too late on a school night to listen. Hoping for more more more from this absurdly talented crew.
This show is filled with potential but it just didn't quite hit for me but it is worth a listen as it does a great job with the creepy setting. The characters are the biggest weakness for me as I just didn't really connect with any of them until the final three episodes and that in part was because they were problem-solving and taking action in solving the mystery rather than them as actual people. Although I found the characters to be lacking, I did however greatly enjoy the overarching menace and how each episode slowly raised the stakes and intrigue. The ending isn't worth it and although it made sense I found it a little too obvious and kinda lame when we hear why the bad things have happened. As you can tell this is a real mixed bag of a show for me as there are many things to praise like the world-building and format of the show but also it lacks in majors areas too, give it a listen and be your own judge.
Yes love it, Ancient Aliens, Advanced Tech, Alien Plant, AI what more do you want. absolutely brilliant please make some more
Top-notch overall production and I'm happy to see that more episodes are coming out anytime now!
Interesting but impractical story that only makes sense with an ending monologue to reveal the plot. Characters were at times painfully unlikeable, and their motivations were questionable even for a fictional story. Obligatory virtue signal by the creators was in poor taste.
