The irony is that we haven’t really been taught how to deal with loss.  In fact, most people experience shame when they go through the grieving process and some people may even start to create disempowering habits to numb themselves. It’s not wrong to grieve.  Grieving is a natural part of life, it’s a natural part of love.  It’s actually the deepest part of our love and it shows us the depth of our love. Joshua has spent many years interviewing and learning from some of the top experts, doctors and scientiest in this field. In this episode he shares with us his own personal journey from grief to grace and how we can apply some of these learnings into our own lives.   ETERNITY BEARS   Joshua’s brother died on December 28, 2007 and in 2011 he took one of his brother’s favorite t-shirts and turned it into a teddy bear. He says, this is by far the greatest gift he has ever given his mother. Joshua has shared this gift with many people around the world.  If you are interested in learning how you can get your own eternity bear you can contact Joshua at

In the coming weeks, my fiancé, Joe Moffett, and I will be teaming up to build the Master Life By Design brand together.  We’ll be starting out by offering a relationship course.  In the spirit of this partnership, today Joe is joining me to talk about self-doubt, fear, and boundaries in a new relationship. When you’re starting out in a new relationship, it can be difficult to determine if the self-doubt and fears you may be experiencing are your vibes trying to guide you or if it’s simply a trigger caused by an old belief pattern.  Your intuition may be saying one thing, yet it’s not backed by evidence.  So how do you know for sure? Truthfully in new relationships, there are plenty of moments of uncertainty at the outset.  In order to manage these moments, you first must have clarity.  Are you clear on who you’re getting into a relationship with?  Do they fit what you’re looking for?  Do you even know what you’re looking for in a partner?  This is critical to setting yourself and your relationship up for success.  After all, how can you possibly reach your destination if you have no idea where you’re headed? Get clear on what you’re looking for in a partner and be sure that you’re seeking partners who meet your criteria. Another important consideration is opening yourself up in a new relationship.  If you want to experience love, you have to lay down all your weapons.  If you have your defenses up, it’s going to be hard to find love.  Self-doubt comes when you’re in your head.  This voice will be screaming at you.  Watch and listen to your intuition.  This voice will whisper from the heart. Another important element of new relationships involves boundaries, both spoken and unspoken.  When beginning a new relationship, establish “rules of the game” between you and your partner.  After all, you can’t expect somebody to read your mind.  If you want something in a relationship, speak up about it.  If you don’t have this understanding, insecurities or lack of trust will show up and threaten the relationship. Many people bring baggage and disempowering beliefs from their past relationships.  This is not fair for either party.  Give yourself permission to unload this baggage and go through the healing process of forgiveness.  You wouldn’t be where you are today without everything that happened to you in the past.  Instead of carrying this baggage to protect yourself, take a leap of faith to open yourself up to your new partner. Lead with an open heart, not with fear.  Be clear on what you want.  Trust your vibes.  Love yourself and know your worth.  Check your baggage from past relationships at the door.  Following these key ideas will help you find the loving relationship you seek. TAKE ACTION Visit to learn how to create your destiny.  Stay tuned for new information, videos, and a great new podcast!
How many times have you noticed yourself going throughout your day and simply reacting to everything that is coming at you?  Are you taking the time to set your intentions?  If not, perhaps it is time for a new approach. Today, I want to talk about how to use the power of intention to consciously create your day, allowing you to pre-pave your future, and manifest all your heart’s desires.  There are a few steps you can follow to begin setting your intentions: GET CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WANT First, you need to have a clear picture of what you want to create or what you are trying to achieve.  Detach yourself from all the questions surrounding how it should happen, but simply picture the end result.  Turn this dream into motion picture in your mind.  When you see what you want to manifest playing out in your mind, the power of creation is at play. PERSONALITY CREATES PERSONAL REALITY   Your thoughts are powerful.  Remember, to live an awakened life means you have become conscious of the thoughts you’re thinking.  Recognize that you are connected to everyone and everything.  You are an energetic being.  Your energy is radiating outward and creating a ripple effect in the universe.  What does your energy say about you?  What ripple effect are you creating? TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE View every day as laying one brick in front of the other.  Choose thoughts that empower you.  Enter into a state of gratitude.  Do your daily incantations and write in a journal.  Start to live a life of fulfillment and regular positive emotions.  When you’re living your highest, best self, while being in control of your mind, you pre-pave your future. Remember, thoughts become things.  Set intentions for what you want to create and be conscious of the thoughts you are thinking.  Replace any negative thoughts with those that empower you.  Know that anything is possible when you set your intentions and manifest your hopes and dreams. To all my male listeners, did you know that women need, want, crave, and desire your presence?  In fact, giving your woman your presence is one of the greatest gifts. I know this all too well.  When I was struggling and having a tough day just recently, my fiancé was able to give me his presence and embrace.  He simply listened to what I had to say.  He acknowledged how hard I was working.  I felt understood and heard.  This is so very important in a relationship.  We are very open and honest with each other.  We ask each other questions such as, “Would you like me to respond or do you simply want me to listen?” Interestingly enough, most times women just want someone to listen to them, so they have a chance to get everything out.  They want to feel understood.  Yet men have a tendency to want to “fix” problems right away and may rush in with suggestions or proposed solutions.  As you can see, this can be a formula for a speedbump. So men, here are a couple of tips on how to be present for your woman: UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WANT TO BE PRESENT.  If you truly love your woman, her needs are your needs.  You have a love for her that comes from deep within. You want to love, cherish, and honor her.  Being with her in her time of need is simply part of the equation. PUT EVERYTHING ELSE DOWN.  Lock eyes with her and listen to what she’s saying.  Be present.  Be there for her and just listen!  Don’t try to multi-task.  You’ll appear distracted and you may be missing out on things that she is saying.  She deserves your undivided attention. SMALL ACTIONS GO A LONG WAY.  Take small, extra actions to show your woman that you care.  Fill up her water bottle.  Open the car door for her.  Adopt these small habits to honor your woman, then watch her open up to you in ways you’ve never seen before. Remember, one of the greatest gifts you can give your woman is your presence.  Ask yourself, “Am I really being present when she needs me?  Am I there to support, encourage, and listen?”  If not, take action today to improve your relationship! TAKE ACTION Don’t forget to take time to ask your woman about her day!  A simple inquiry to allow her to open up to you can make such a difference! I want to hear your tips!  Men, what do you do to stay focused and present with your woman?  If you’re having challenges and need advice, reach out!  Email me at Today I’m sharing a special video with my fiancé, Joe Moffett.  Joe is a peak performance coach and the mastermind behind the website, Master Life By Design.  In this video, we’re discussing simple ways to keep the love and passion alive in your relationship. FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR PARTNER LIKE YOU DID ON DAY ONE What attracted you to that person in the first place?  Replay those beginning moments and remind yourself of all the reasons that you love your partner.  Make these thoughts part of your morning ritual, so that you start each day feeling like you did on day one.  Don’t forget to do all the things you did your partner at the beginning of the relationship as time goes on.  These are part of the reason you two fell in love.  So why stop now? CHECK YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR Relationships are not without give and take.  You’re going to get into disagreements and you may even be triggered with anger and frustration.  Remember, you can be right or you can be in love.  Practice letting things go.  Be quick to say you’re sorry.  You can easily overcome these speedbumps by being working to find resolution swiftly. A RELATIONSHIP WITHOUT INTIMACY IS A FRIENDSHIP You both have needs, and it’s possible that your moments of desire will strike at different times.  Be cautious of rejecting intimacy with your partner.  Repeated and consistent rejections can become a recipe for disaster and lead to resentment.  As time goes on and situations change, being intimate may take more effort.  Add a little spice to your bedroom routine.  Find new ways to make it passionate and exciting again.  There is always room for improvement. SMALL THINGS MATTER MOST It could be as simple as a warm touch, letting your partner know you’re there.  It might be a quick text in the morning or a note left behind, letting them know you’re thinking about them.  Maybe they washed the dirty dishes in the sink or took out the trash, just so you wouldn’t have to do it.  Sometimes the little things make all the difference. Are you trying to figure out how to get the intimacy back in your relationship?  Start taking personal responsibility for how you show up in that relationship.  What else could you be doing?  Condition yourself to figure out what turns you on about your partner, then use that to reignite the spark. At the end of the day, you must know exactly why you’re in your relationship.  Always be conscious of what you love about your partner.  Develop a shared vision for the future and work together to stay on track.  And perhaps most importantly, stay consistent with all of the actions you are taking and you will see massive results! Did you know there is a simple step you can take to transform your life?  Taking this action has helped to propel me to a whole new level, raise my vibration, and expand my consciousness.  Simply, I turned off the television. In fact, it’s been over 12 years since I’ve had cable.  I used to love television and would watch my favorite shows over and over again.  But at one point, I became conscious of how I was wasting my life away.  I made a decision to stop watching TV for a week.  Instead, I did new things such as reading books, painting, and working out.  My world changed. So how about you?  Do you have really big dreams and perhaps you’re not taking action? HOW ARE YOU SPENDING YOUR TIME? Take a hard look at how you’re spending your time.  After all, the average person will spend NINE YEARS watching TV during their lifetime!  Think of all those years you could have used to work toward your goals or spend with family and friends.  That is precious time you’ll never get back. BECOME CONSCIOUS OF YOUR UNCONSCIOUS HABITS Perhaps you didn’t even realize you spent that much time watching TV.  Now is the time to dive in and examine what it is that you’re watching.  Do the shows that you watch serve you or are they negatively impacting your energy?   Become conscious of what you’re feeding your brain with and how it makes you feel.  When you watch TV, you are literally being programmed.  Make sure you’re picking programming that aligns with the way you want to feel and the person you want to be. At the end of the day, if something is important to you, you’ll find a way.  If it’s not, you’ll find an excuse.  Cutting out the TV or at least reducing it will help you increase your productivity and aid you in getting to where you want to be.  Make the most of this little time we have here on Earth. TAKE ACTION Feed your spirit!  Find something that piques your interest and go learn about it.  Select a new book to read, check out a new podcast, or watch some inspiring videos on YouTube.
**Please note this is the newest episode.  Many apologies for the duplicate show that posted in error on Sunday evening.  Enjoy!** Have you ever really wanted something, but it’s just not showing up as fast as you’d like it to manifest?  What do you do?  How do you respond? Think about a surprise party.  On the surface, it appears nothing is happening.  You know nothing about what everyone else is doing to prepare for the big event.  You may even feel upset that seemingly everyone has forgotten about your birthday.  Similarly when waiting for what you want, you may feel frustrated.  Why hasn’t it happened yet?  Yet behind the scenes, the Universe is putting everything together in perfect divine order. So how do you respond?  Will you throw a tantrum because you don’t have it right now?  You are not in a state of allowing.  God and the Universe is feeling everything you are emitting from your vibration.  You must trust the timing of your life and have faith that everything you want is on its way.  Yet you still must do everything in your power to make this manifestation a reality. When you find yourself feeling frustrated by not yet having what you desire, take a few quick actions: Send negativity into the light. Get clear on what you want and stand in your power. Trust your efforts. Continue to take action and have faith. Keep moving forward to your highest potential by following your highest bliss.  The Universe will respond to your clarity. What’s your story?  Are you conscious of the story you tell yourself?  Chances are you are telling each person you meet this same story over and over again, and it just might be a negative story.  Does this sound like you?  I’m broke.  I hate my job.  What you’re essentially saying is that you’re a victim.  Perhaps these limiting beliefs have become ingrained in your mind.  If so, you are putting this negativity out into the world and the universe is responding to your vibration by giving it back to you ten-fold. So how do we shift the story? GET CLEAR ON WHAT YOU WANT Some thoughts are so ingrained, we’re not consciously aware of what we’re speaking into existence.  Often times we desire one thing, but the story we tell is the quite the opposite of our desire.  First you need to get clear about what it is that you want.  Write down what you want in specifics and create incantations for yourself. DEVELOP A MANTRA A mantra is something you say to self over and over and is similar to an incantation.  Say it to yourself several times throughout the day to keep your thoughts in check.  For example, my new mantra is “Thank God I’m rich.”  Speaking this mantra helps to put me into a state of gratitude and wipes away the negativity. BUILD YOUR GRATITUDE In addition to adopting a mantra, you can build your gratitude by following a few other steps.  Take time each evening to write down three things for which you are grateful or three magical moments that occurred during your day.  Consider listening to peaceful music or soothing nature sounds to help you ease the transition into a peaceful state.  Give thanks and see things as though they have already manifested for you.  When you embrace a state of gratitude, your negative outlook shifts to a positive one. Following these steps will help you become aware of your limiting thoughts and beliefs and will assist you in replacing your old story with a new, more empowering one.  Adopt an “I AM” statement that embodies your new story.
Today, I’m chatting with a very special guest—Keara Palmay.  Keara is a reinvention coach, author, speaker, and great friend.  If you’re looking to own your power, be a badass, and gain more confidence, then Keara has some insight for you!   No stranger to adversity, Keara was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 16.  The experience prompted her to question, “If I were to die today, what did my life really mean?  Did I leave any sort of legacy behind?”  She knew she needed to make a difference. Even after beating cancer and attending college, she found that she was distancing herself from everyone.  She was confused, upset, angry, and felt misunderstood.  After graduation, she went through a dark period, shifting from job to job.  She felt called to do something bigger, which later prompted her to become a personal trainer and health coach.  She took her business online and added business and reinvention coaching to the mix. Here are some highlights from our conversation: WHAT WAS YOUR BREAKING POINT? In college, I was so angry and felt alone.  I was insecure because I had no hair and had gained weight due to my treatments.  I asked myself, “Who would ever love me?”  Tony Robbins says, “The quality of your life depends on the quality of the questions you ask yourself,” and here I was asking myself such poor questions.  The people I hung out with were toxic.  I was in an abusive relationship and living a dangerous lifestyle.  It all hit me at once.  I was so unfamiliar with being happy that I didn’t know what happiness was.  I felt utterly defeated, but then I heard a voice saying, “Are you going to do something about it?”  I decided everything had to change right then.  I went on a health journey, spiritual journey, found new friends, and wanted to serve people authentically.  I wanted to have purpose, passion, and clarity to help others. WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THOSE WHO KNOW THERE IS MORE OUT THERE? At any point in time, you can reinvent yourself.  You’re in the perfect place at the perfect time because you are the person who brought yourself here.  When you decide to change your beliefs, believe you can stand in your power, and know that you are worth more, it will shape your behavior and results.  When you’re down in the dumps, make a love list to yourself.  Write down the reasons why you kick ass. Ask yourself how can you harness your passion to serve something greater than you?  You won’t be satisfied if you’re just serving yourself.  Your responsibility is to serve greater good with your purpose.  What lights you up?  What do you love doing and how can you use it to add value to world?  What are your personality traits?  What do you do well? If you’re clear on the impact you want to create and how you can use your unique skillsets to impact lives, then you will ignite passion and find purpose inside of you.  Simply utilize the person you are. AND FOR THOSE WHO BLAME OTHERS FOR THEIR UNHAPPINESS? If you’re blaming others, you’re only deflecting your feelings onto someone else so you don’t have to take action.  You can stay miserable and have a pity party, but you will have less and less guests showing up.  People love the victor, not the victim. Don’t use your failures as luggage; use it as feedback.  Ask yourself, “What did I learn from this setback?”  Forgive yourself and other people so you can move forward and learn from every experience.  If those experiences had never happened, you would never have become the person you are today. You have the power to change your story today.  Change the world with those lessons learned, for it is your responsibility to do so. TAKE ACTION To connect with Keara Palmay directly or learn more about coaching with Keara, visit her website at! Her new book entitled, Dominate Life: How to Get Clarity, Find Your Passion, and Live a Life You Love, will be released soon!  This is a great book for anyone looking to learn how to take responsibility and reinvent themselves.  It will help you gain clarity on what you want to do, while also helping you create action steps to get there.  Visit her website to learn more!
Do you have negative people in your life?  Perhaps it is someone who is going down a bad path or who is not open to change.  This person is stuck in their limiting beliefs, as if a black garbage bag has been pulled over his head.  When you’re not totally in the driver’s seat, this can be frustrating. So you want to help, but you don’t know how.  Maybe you’ve tried a few things, but nothing has been well-received.  That other person may be perceiving you as pushy or nagging, and it may be causing a rift between you. The reality is you may be going about it all wrong.  What steps should you be taking? SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE Remember, in order to influence somebody, you need to know what already influences them.  What do they like?  What brings them joy?  When I wanted to reach out to my brother, I found a video by CT Fletcher on YouTube that “spoke his language” much more than any of the other content I had sent his way.  I was able to find something that had the same message, but said it in a way that he wanted to listen. ALIGN THE BLUEPRINT The formula for happiness is our life conditions matching our blueprint.  This person might have a vision of what his life should look like—dream job, great finances, perfect relationship—but perhaps the reality is not matching up.  This is a formula for unhappiness.  Ask them what they think life is about for them.  What is their blueprint for happiness?  Have a chat with them about what they want their life to look like.  Sometimes talking things over in a non-confrontational way can make all the difference. LIFT THEM UP This person may simply be in a rut and maybe a few key actions will help lift them up.  Make a list of things they enjoy.  Pick a few activities from the list and set aside time to do them together.  Consider putting your partner’s needs first for 30 days as a way to strengthen the relationship.  Don’t forget to laugh! DON’T ALLOW THE NEGATIVITY TO RUB OFF  Everything is energy and everything is vibration.  When they say these negative things to you, ask yourself, “How do I react?  Am I giving what they say an empowering or disempowering meaning?”  If you’re allowing them to affect your state, you are giving it a disempowering meaning. The next time you find yourself in a conversation headed down a path of nagging, gossiping, and negativity, send this person love and light in return.  You may even need to excuse yourself and do something else that raises your energy and vibration.  Be a beacon of light.  Be you.  Do you.  Your energy is contagious and may help this person indirectly. Change can happen in an instant for anybody, but that person has to WANT to change.  That desire must come from within. TAKE ACTION Let’s get the Awakened Life Movement podcast back on Itunes’ New and Noteworthy List!  If you love the show, I would be so appreciative of you taking the time to leave a review.  You rock!
Today, I’m chatting with a very special guest—Nik Gardiner.  Nik is a life coach, owner of The Changemaker, and a beautiful soul sister of mine.   Nik knows first-hand the struggle of addiction, after having battled a dependence on drinking and smoking that was taking over her life.  After shifting her identity, she was able to quit cold turkey, and is now passionate about helping people take back their lives, thus creating a life that works for them.  Nik believes that we truly have so much more power than we give ourselves credit for. Here are some great takeaways from our conversation: WHAT IS AN ADDICTION? Addiction can come in many forms—shopping, gambling, smoking, drinking, and so on.  They key is, do you call it or does it call you?  Ask yourself, “Am I in charge or is IT in charge?”  When you start negotiating and qualifying, this is the beginning of an addiction.  It is an entity outside of yourself that controls you.  It starts subtle like a whisper, but eventually the voice gets louder.  Like a child throwing a tantrum, it wants what it wants and will keep at it until it gets what it wants.  When you are willing to negotiate, you are not in control.  When you no longer negotiate with the demands of the addiction, the voice will get quieter, and you will regain control. SHIFTING IDENTITY AND MOVING FORWARD Life looks the way it does because of the decisions we make.  When you shift your identity to someone who is in control, you put yourself in the power position.  In doing so, you must also shift your association to the addiction.  Instead of associating your addiction with pleasure, you must instead associate it with the pain it is causing you.  Is it causing rifts between you and your friends or family?  Are you suffering in your job?  Is your addiction preventing you from following your dreams?  If all of these things are causing you pain, what are you willing to do to get the result that you want?  If you want to fly as a butterfly, you have to be committed to giving up life as a caterpillar. To make this shift, you may need to make some changes.  You may need to change routines, rituals, or activities.  Set yourself up for success, not failure.  Embrace a new way of thinking.  Tell the people who are important to you.  Those who love you and respect you will be willing to flow with you. STRENGTHENING YOUR SOUL We are spiritual beings having a human experience.  We choose different paths to go down in our lives to expand our soul and strengthen it, leading to greater spiritual depth. A negative addiction always hinders personal growth in the moment.  However, our challenges have the power to cultivate us into who we need to be to fulfill our destiny.  If the universe is calling to you and you are ready to do the work, your actions will create momentum that will lead to your purpose being revealed to you. The desire to see what you can truly make of yourself without addiction will propel you forward.  And when you beat your addiction, something changes within your soul.  You can absolutely do anything in this world.  Your accomplishment cultivates a strength and grit in yourself.  You are truly the master of your own life. “The strongest force in the human psyche is the need to remain consistent with our identity.”  So, what is your identity?  Is it helping you or hurting you?  Ask yourself, “Who am I?”  Do you see yourself as optimistic or pessimistic?  Worthy or not worthy?  Weak or strong?  Happy or unhappy? If your identity is not aligned with who you want to be, then it’s time to make a shift.  In order to do so, you must follow these steps: DISCOVER WHO YOU ARE RIGHT NOW.  What does life mean to you?  What do you believe about yourself?  What is the story you tell yourself?  Get clear on who you are right now.  Chances are you have an inner whiner who is showing your limitations, holding you back, and preventing you from getting to where you want to be.  This negative voice shows you where you need to make a change. MAKE A CONSCIOUS CHOICE TO DECIDE WHO YOU WANT TO BECOME.  What are your goals and dreams?  Ask yourself, “Who do I need to be to achieve these goals?”  Write it down in your journal.  In fact, take a few minutes and envision yourself in this new identity.  What are you like?  How do you speak?  What do you do?  Clarify the end goal so you know what you are working toward. OWN YOUR POWER AND PUT IN THE WORK.  You have the power to shape your identity.  In order to make it happen, you must own this power and put in the work to make the change.  Create action steps to help you get there.  Write these down in your journal.  If you have a strong enough “why,” it will help you make the right choices and pull you forward in achieving your goals. INCORPORATE INCANTATIONS.  Incantations are powerful tools.  Create several by asking yourself what feelings you want to feel.  Write them as if what you want to create already exists for yourself.  Some examples are: “I am worthy of love.  I am perfect.  I am whole just as God created me.” “Life is happening for me, not against me.” Remember, your thoughts of today are paving the way for tomorrow’s thoughts.  Today’s reality is resulting from your thoughts from yesterday and the day before.  Start making a change today.  Find clarity about who you want to be and start to own that power.  What you want already exists—all you need to do is embrace it and put in the work to achieve it!
When chasing our dreams, there are two extremes of people.  The first type is all about the hustle—constantly on go, and maybe finding themselves short of time for themselves and their families.  It’s all about the grind. Others are all about the flow.  They take a laid back approach and believe that everything they want will manifest in front of their eyes. The truth is there is a delicate balance between the hustle and the flow.  At the end of it all, you must take action to get what you want.  Perhaps you have big goals and haven’t been taking action.  If that’s the case, it’s time to start making moves. Ask yourself, “What do I really want?”  Do you have a dream you’ve given up on?  Maybe you simply have not been taking enough action to turn this dream into reality. Consider the process an idea goes through when it is birthed in your mind to when it manifests into reality: Spiritual body – This is where the creativity and energy flows. Mental body – Here, you start really thinking and exploring this idea. Emotional body – The gut reaction comes into play in the emotional body.  You will know whether or not it’s something you want to pursue. Physical body – This is where you step into action and begin to make your idea a reality. You must allow your energy to flow through these bodies and create momentum.  When you take action on your dreams, they are flowing through your heart and creativity.  If you don’t take action, you force that energy back up into the mental body, where it gets stuck in your head. Often times, we begin to create momentum, but make the mistake of talking to someone about our dream or idea.  If they have a negative reaction, we allow their negativity to stop us in our tracks.  Because of this, you must guard your dreams very carefully, especially with whom you share them. Remember, time waits for no one.  Don’t wait until the end of your life to look back and wish you had pursued your dreams. What is your mission?  What is your purpose?  What do you want to create?  It doesn’t have to be grand; it only has to fulfill your heart’s desire. TAKE ACTION Get clear.  Ask yourself, “What do I want?”  If you don’t already have a journal, get one today.  Once you find clarity about what you really want, make notes in your journal.  What is one small action you can take today to build momentum? Are you looking for a new perspective?  Don’t forget—I’m offering free 30-minute strategy sessions with tips and tools to help you get to where you want to be.  Email me at for more information! Many people struggle daily with overcoming bad habits and/or addictions.  This hits close to home for me, as I previously struggled with an addiction to marijuana.  Overcoming addiction is certainly not an easy task, but it is achievable if you follow the right steps. OWN THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE AN ADDICTION/BAD HABIT At first, you may not even be aware of what you’re doing.  However, once you become aware of what you’re doing and continue to do it, then it becomes a choice.  The following levels of consciousness explain this in more detail: Levels of consciousness: Unconscious incompetence – This is where you’re not aware that what you’re doing is a problem or something that you want to change. Conscious incompetence – In this level, you start to become aware of what you’re doing and the fact that you’d like to change, but perhaps you don’t yet have all the resources necessary to do so. Conscious competence – Here, you’re very aware of what you’re doing and are consciously making an effort to shift your identity and make a change. Unconscious competence – In this state, you are taking the right actions and don’t even notice that you are doing so.  Your identity has been shifted so that it is simply a part of the new you. Once you are aware of your behavior, ask yourself, “What is this costing me?  Who is this hurting?  How am I hurting myself?”  Project five years into the future.  If I’m still behaving this way in five years, what will that look like for me?  Is that the life I want to live? DECIDE THAT YOU ARE DONE AND STICK WITH IT In order to take that first step in the right direction, you must decide that you are DONE with your addiction/bad habit.  You cannot waiver.  You cannot decide you are done today and then pick it back up tomorrow.  Stand firm in your power and decide that you will not continue like this for one more day. Of course, you are going to be tested by the universe.  You are going to be triggered, but if you are strong in your desire to change, you will respond appropriately. SHIFT YOUR IDENTITY Once you are able to recognize your addiction/bad habit and decide that you are done with it, you are creating a new identity for yourself.  Think about the person you want to be as a result of this new shift.  Ask yourself, “Who am I now and who do I need to become to reach the highest levels of myself?”  Surely your old identity was not in alignment with the ideal version of yourself.  Avoid counting the days of being sober—in doing so, you continually attach yourself to that old identity.  When you are living in your new identity, you are living in the unconscious competence level—where you are doing the right things simply because it is part of the new you.  The old ways of addiction and bad habits are a thing of the past and something that doesn’t even come up, because it has no alignment with your new self. Remember, you have the power to change anything in your life, but you have to have the desire.  Perhaps you have uncovered enough pain associated with your behavior that is pushing you to make the shift.  Maybe someone special in your life can help to hold you accountable.  All of these are tools that work in your favor.  If you are able to shift your identity away from these addictions and bad habits, your whole world will shift right before your eyes. Today, I’m chatting with a very special guest–Mitchell Graves.  Mitch is a Transformation Coach, Certified Personal Trainer, and founder of the Total Transformation Academy, an online coaching program designed to help women and men finally master their health and live lives of Freedom. I met Mitch at wedding recently.  Once we got to talking, I knew that his powerful message needed to be shared with all of you! ABOUT MITCHELL GRAVES   Over the period of nine years, Mitchell has helped hundreds of people transform their bodies to look thinner, stronger, and have more energy.  He is a fitness info entrepreneur, author, and keynote speaker.  A former college track athlete and three time black belt in Tae Kwon Do, he knows about peak performance and the importance of the mind and body working in harmony. Mitchell enjoys action movies, nature hikes up not-too-steep mountains, and exploring new places.  You can find him on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram where he hosts Fit With Mitch TV, a weekly YouTube show about fitness, transformation, and freedom, #Gymotivation, a weekly fitness motivation video, and Q&A Today!, where he answers health and fitness questions in under three minutes. Here are some great takeaways from our conversation: GETTING STARTED Mitch started out training in his college gym and eventually became a certified trainer.  After working with so many clients, he noticed those who were successful in achieving their fitness goals were able to shift their mindset from where they are to where they want to be.  This mental shift translated into other areas of their lives as well, including their relationships, work, and finances.  He became fascinated by the question—why do people change?  His training then evolved past exercise and nutrition to also include making this permanent mindset shift. ICEBERG OF TRANSFORMATION Think of an iceberg–90% of its mass is below the water’s surface and only 10% of its mass is visible above the surface.  This is similar to what we see in health.  Diet and exercise is only the tip of iceberg that is visible—that 10%.  What we don’t see—that 90%–is the mindset and coaching.  And just like with the Titanic, it is what is below the surface—the mindset and coaching—that has taken most people out.  This 90% is the reason why people struggle to lose weight, get to the gym, or plan nutritious meals.  The mindset and coaching that is below surface actually leads to the diet and exercise.  Once you are able to affect your mindset, and are then given a plan to impact your diet and exercise, you will be off to the races. IMPORTANCE OF MINDSET The biggest part of the iceberg below the surface is mindset.   To explain the importance of mindset, take a look at the IMAR loop, which can be either positive or negative.  IMAR stands for Identify, Meaning, Action, and Results. Identity – This is who we are, the story we tell ourselves, the narrative in our minds, our beliefs, values, and rules.  All of this boils into our identity, or who we believe we are. Meaning – Based on who we believe we are (identity), we attach a certain meaning to anything that happens in our life. This meaning can be either positive or negative.  Though we can’t control the things that happen to us, we can control the meaning we give to these events.  Are they giving us pleasure or pain?  Do we see them as negative or positive? Action – The meaning we associate with events will determine what action we take.  If we associate a negative meaning, we will perhaps take a different action that we might have if we had associated a positive meaning.  The size of the action taken may also be impacted. Results – Actions dictate results.  If we take massive action toward the right things, we should see massive positive results and vice versa.  The nature of the results we see will either affirm or deny the identity we have for ourselves, and the loop resumes again with this updated identity leading the cycle. FUEL IN THE TANK It’s so important to know how much “fuel you have in the tank.”  It’s this fuel, or motivation, that you will need to get started and that which leads to your eventual results.  Don’t underestimate the effort and motivation needed to get started.  We must also recognize that we are integrated beings.  If someone is struggling with their motivation, they should find the links between the meaning they attach to what they’re trying to accomplish and something that they are motivated and passionate about.  This will add more fuel to the tank and be a key part of making that mental shift. Lately, I’ve been working hard at managing my state.  And it’s only natural, right?  We’re human.  We’re going to find ourselves in negative states.  We’re going to get triggered.  But when that happens, how long do we allow ourselves to stay in these negative states of emotion? The truth is, you can snap out of a funk in a heartbeat.  When you’re in these negative states of emotion and need to pull yourself out quickly, you should examine three elements to make a change.  Tony Robbins calls this The Triad.  They are as follows: Physiology – This includes all things related to your body—the way you move, your structure, your biochemistry, your posture, facial expressions, and even the food you eat.  Imagine the way a depressed person would carry themselves versus someone who is excited and enthusiastic.  See the difference?  To make a change, sit up tall, take deep breaths, put a smile on your face, and go for a walk. Focus and Beliefs – What are you focused on?  Most times when you are in a negative state, you’re focused on yourself, and you’re concentrating on limiting beliefs.  Ask yourself, “What would I have to believe is true in order for me to feel this way?”  The answer is likely a lie.  To make a change, take control of your thoughts and focus on only that which pleases you and that which brings you joy.  Focus on what you’re grateful for.  Focus on ideas and thoughts that make you feel amazing. Language – A little shift in language leads to a big shift in how you feel.  Look no further than the power of incantations.  We are always incanting something.  What are you saying to yourself?  Is it an inCANTation or and inCANtation?  To make a change, become conscious of what you’re saying to yourself.  Eliminate the word “try” from your vocabulary.  Incorporate positivity into your language and you will see an improvement. TAKE ACTION Let me know if you’ve put these tools to use.  What were your results?  I love to hear your stories!  Email me at or check me out on Instagram at @awakenedlifemovement!
I often wake up early in the morning feeling downloaded with information.  When this happens, I feel the need to put my thoughts on paper.  Today, I want to share one such journal entry that focuses on the topic of ego.  This was written on October 19, 2014 at around 3:25 AM: Good morning.  Thank you for blessing me with another beautiful, magical day.  I wrote a quote several years ago, “The greatest gifts we’ve been given by God was our hearts and our minds, and if we could learn to control our minds, our hearts would be happy.”  Within our hearts is the key to our soul.  Our passions are there burning bright, illuminating the true essence of who we are and what we were born to create.  Within our hearts lies our souls.  Within our hearts is the key to our soul.  Our passions are there burning bright, illuminating the true essence of who we are, what we were born to create. Then we have our minds—the space where our consciousness is held.  One of the most powerful computers in all of the universe, capable of tapping into any knowledge—past, present, or future.  And within our minds lives our creative imagination and unlimited potential, and somewhere deep within this mind also lives the ego.  This tiny little force of energy, where if given the opportunity, would take over and control our world.  Ironically, this ego is a part of you and its highest potential is to serve you for the greater good, but it’s in its service is reflected negative emotions—fear, sadness, anger, guilt, and limiting beliefs.  Most people are walking this planet—their souls are pleasantly sleeping and dreaming in their hearts.  The ego is wide awake and in control driving the ship.  Its energy dominates the mind with thoughts of, “I can’t.  I’m better than you.  I’m not enough.  I don’t know what to do.  I’m ugly.”  This ego is never satisfied.  It’s ungrateful and always unfulfilled.  It keeps you a prisoner in your mind and maybe it’s stolen the key to your heart and is holding your spirit captive.  Within your heart, you can also see, hear, and feel the dreams of your soul, and if you can become aware of you ego and consciously decide to put it in the back seat, you will begin to wake up your soul.  When you begin to consciously choose your thoughts and follow your heart, you will begin to feel the power of your soul.  This reflection is filled with positive emotions—love, trust, passion, desire, peace, faith, and true happiness.  Your spirit is softly speaking to you.  Listen closely.  It’s those little feelings of excitement you feel when you’re doing something you love.  It’s your dreams.  It’s what makes you happy.  It’s your bliss.  Your spirit is calling you and in each and every moment of your day, you just have to quiet your mind and tap into your emotions and have the courage to follow your heart.  All the answers you seek lie within you and it takes great strength to trust yourself and not seek the opinions of others.  Christina Marie  The ego has a purpose, but it can sometimes disempower us by making us feel that we always have to be right.  Once I became aware of this inner voice that made me choose thoughts that did not feel good, I began to focus on my strength and override that voice. When your awakening occurs, you know that you are in control.  Put that inner whiner in the backseat, tell it to shut up, and drive the car in the direction you want to go.  YOU ARE IN CONTROL! TAKE ACTION Let me know what you think of the journal entries.  As always, I love hearing your feedback!
Episode 26: The 12 Secrets of Wealth and Abundance What truly constitutes riches? For many people, the first thing that comes to mind is financial security and abundance.  We want material things like cars, houses, or clothing, but in reality we’re seeking a feeling.  We’re seeking the feeling that obtaining these material items gives us.  What do these items or experiences give us emotionally?  Perhaps a feeling of importance, prestige, joy, or happiness. In actuality, we don’t need material things to give us the emotions we seek.  Napoleon Hill wrote an incredible book entitled, Think and Grow Rich.  In it, he details 12 things that constitute riches.  They are as follows: Positive mental attitude Sound physical health Harmony in all human relations Freedom of fear Hope of future achievement Capacity for applied faith Willingness to share one’s blessings with others To be engaged in the labor of love An open mind on all subjects towards all people Complete self-discipline Wisdom with which to understand people Financial security As you can see, financial security is the last item on the list.  Of course it has an importance, but the riches you will reap from adopting the other items in your life are exponentially greater. Remember that you are a vibrational being.  You will get back what you are sending out into the world.  The secret is to operate from a space of gratitude and appreciation.  Focus on what you have, not what you lack. Find the blessings in your life and give thanks for those blessings.  Because you can live each day and take advantage of the opportunities before you, you are truly wealthy.
Do you know someone who has been living in a disempowering state of worry, fear, frustration, or anger?  Perhaps this person is you!  Dealing with anxiety is not easy, but remember that you are in control. I don’t believe people have anxiety.  I believe people DO anxiety.  I believe people DO depression.  Our suffering is a choice that we make.  After all, we are the creators of our reality.  Everyone is going to be triggered, but how long we decide to live in those negative emotions is our decision. Your negative emotions are based on three factors: Physiology.  What are you doing with your body, your breathing, and your movement?  Shift this and change your state.  Stand up tall, sit straight, take deep breaths, and smile.  You will see a difference. Focus.  Ask yourself, “What am I choosing to focus on?”  Chances are, you are focusing on the wrong thing.  Step outside of yourself and don’t make what’s going on about you.  Adopt affirmations and incantations.  Tell yourself, “I am strong.  I am amazing.  I love myself.”  Flood your mind with empowering thoughts. Language.  Examine your language patters and your inner self-talk.  This has a powerful effect on the way you feel.  Change the way that you’re using your words.  Try putting a rubber band around your wrist and literally snap yourself out of it every time you think a negative thought! If you want to live in beautiful state, remember that it takes work.  But when you do the work, you reap the reward.  Make a commitment to yourself that you won’t stand for living in a life of negative emotions. You are not broken.  You are whole.  You are so powerful.  But you are the only person who can change your life. TAKE ACTION Get a journal.  When you experience negative emotions, become aware of what you are doing with body, the nature of your thoughts, and how your language/self-talk is coming to mind.  Write this down.  On the next page, ask yourself and write down, “What can I do instead?”  Keep track to see your patterns and progress! If you need help along the way, please reach out to me!
This was hard for me to post.   First, I want to sincerely apologize for my hiatus.  I have been using this time away to make some profound shifts in my life. As you’ve probably noticed, I have rebranded Awakened Life Movement.  I have shed the name “Sage” and embraced my true self, Christina Marie.  The truth is, it has been a journey. In my recent training to become a professional life coach, it became clear to me that I was not being my authentic self.  I was operating from fear.  I knew that I was hiding behind Sage and that it was time to step out of her shadow.  But how? My fear was manifesting in the form of resistance.  I was resisting recording videos.  I had a perfectionist mindset and saw each and every perceived imperfection about myself as a deterrent to moving forward.  So, I wouldn’t.  I simply avoided posting videos. I would look at all my idols in the industry and compare myself.  Instead of looking at them in admiration, I was using them as a measuring stick, and casting judgment on myself based on supposed inadequacies I saw as a result. Now I know that this was silly.  I finally decided that I’m going to stand in my power.  I’m going to be me.  I can’t be afraid to shine my light bright, and neither should you. My message to you is this:  If you are going down path in life, and you’re not satisfied with where the road is headed, you can ALWAYS decide to go down a new road.  Be you.  Be uniquely who you are. Now that I have made these shifts, I finally feel the weight lifted off my shoulders.  I’m taking action, building momentum, and I feel more alive than ever before. I’d love to hear your feedback!  Leave me a message on or on our Facebook page!
We all know that tomorrow is not promised, but we continue to live as if we have all the time in the world.  What if tomorrow was your last day?  Would you continue to live life the same way?  Probably not. If tomorrow was your last day, would you look back with regret or would you feel blessed with the life you lived?  Remember that everything in your life is a result of actions taken or a lack of actions taken.  Are the excuses in your mind preventing you from taking action?  How are you showing up? TAKE ACTION Here are some steps to more fully embrace living in the moment: Make gratitude a daily practice.  Spend five minutes a day reflecting on what you are grateful for in your life. Create a bucket list and make a plan to achieve those goals.  Don’t wait until it is too late! Focus on the little things.  Remember to smile or hold the door open for someone.  Random acts of kindness go a long way to improve your daily happiness. Step outside your comfort zone.  This is where true growth occurs!  Don’t let negative emotions hold you back from becoming your best self. With every moment, we have the power to decide what meaning we give to everything that happens to us.  We truly shape our own destiny. At the end of your life, you will want to look back and know you lived your life on purpose.  Use these words to guide your path: “Did I live?  Did I love?  Did I matter?” ~ Brendon Burchard  Please send positive healing energies to our friend in South Africa, Lloyd.  Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Why create a vision board? A vision board is a powerful tool that aids in the manifestation of your dreams, goals, and desires—transforming these ideas into a physical reality. There are many types and styles of vision boards.  Creating topic-specific vision boards may focus on areas such as health, travel, relationships, or spirituality.  Be creative!  Create a board that resonates with you. Get Started: Step 1:  Get a large piece of craft paper to provide the foundation for your board. Step 2:  Find magazines that pique your interest.  Go online to find and print pictures of specific images that you want to manifest.  Consider including a photo of yourself! Step 3: Cut out anything that inspires you or captures your attention—words, quotes, photos, color schemes, etc. Step 5:  Set the layout.  Tap into your creative side!  Attach cut-outs with glue or tape. Step 6:  Place the vision board in a place where you’ll see it every day. Step 7:  Take a few moments each day to look at your vision board.  Visualize the words, phrases, and experiences.  Raise your vibration and allow these images to manifest into your life. Share your vision board on Instagram and tag @awakenedlifemovement.  The first person to do so will receive a special gift!
We all experience negative emotions from time to time—frustration, anger, fear, anxiety.  These emotions can cause us great suffering. But why do we suffer?  Our beliefs and rules can actually be a major source of angst.  Think of the little voice inside your head that delivers nagging, fearful messages. Even when you are living an awakened life—taking responsibility for how you’re feeling and what you’re thinking—you will still experience these negative emotions.   So how can we overcome this? Step 1 – Make the decision to live in beautiful state.  Realize that your thoughts and emotions create your reality. Step 2 – Decide to not let limiting beliefs take over when triggered. Step 3 – Shift your focus from yourself to a state of gratitude.  Remove yourself from a stressful situation, take a walk, or enjoy nature.  Step outside of yourself. Important keys to remember: Recognize that not all of your thoughts are true. Nobody can think your thoughts for you.  You alone are responsible for your own thoughts and feelings. When you’re being triggered, you are being tested.  You have the power to overcome. For related reading, check out The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer.  Let’s hear your feedback at!
