BLACK HANDS - A family mass murder
Wow, so a lot of people have been following the Chris Watts cases and if you’re interested in learning about another familicide this podcast is for you. Host Martin van Beynen takes you all the way to New Zealand and back to 1994 to try and figure out what truly happened to the Bain family. This podcast extremely hard to listen to and I’m going to mention some troubling triggers up front because there are quite a few present including rape, mental health, vivid 911 phone call recordings leading off every episode, incest, emotional and physical abuse. While it can be seen as a bit more difficult to listen to than most cases I still think it is really important the case is known. I also think it’s something those of us that study this sort of thing can learn from. It’s clear to me who the host thinks is guilty but I’m really interested in what you guys think so be sure to message me if/when you finish. Itunes has 239 ratings with an average of 4 and a half stars and 35 written reviews. The miniseries finished up in November of last year with 11 episodes all about 31 minutes in length on average. Script was heavily court transcript based but I don’t consider that a bad thing. Voices and music were fine.
