Pamela McCarter serves as the Equity Initiative Leader at Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. In her role, Pamela works to develop workforce diversity strategies for hiring and developing diverse talent, fostering an inclusive work environment and ensuring management accountability. Since assuming the role in 2019, she led a team that is designing an Equity Action Plan for the library, participated as an Equity Core Team member for Mecklenburg County.

Pamela's work experience is largely in public library setting, where she has over 20 years' experience working with diverse populations. Pamela's training experiences include sessions on advancing racial equity, implicit Bias, staff development, and team building.

Throughout her career, Pamela has gained valuable knowledge and skill in training, outreach and community advocacy that are helping in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Currently, she serves on the board of Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Access Corp.
