Jackie MacMullan is a freelance newspaper sportswriter and NBA columnist for ESPN.com.MacMullan started her sports journalism career in high school to write about her high school's girl teams for their local newspaper. After university, she joined the Boston Globe as an intern. She was a columnist and associate editor at the Boston Globe until she left to cover the NBA as a senior writer for Sports Illustrated.MacMullan co-wrote Larry Bird's autobiography "Bird Watching: on Playing and Coaching the Game I Love." Her first book, "Geno: In Pursuit of Perfection with Geno Auriemma," was published in 2006, and "When the Game Was Ours," which she wrote with Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, was published in 2009. She co-wrote Shaquille O'Neal's autobiography, "Shaq Uncut: My Story."MacMullan has been a correspondent for ESPN, CNNSI, NESN, and WHDH-TV in Boston. She is a regular panelist on the ESPN program Around the Horn.
