Gemma Files is a horror writer, journalist, and film critic.Files began her career as a freelance journalist, and then became a film reporter for "Eye Weekly." She has also written reviews for film online and for the magazine "Rue Morgue."Files's fiction has appeared in The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror and The Best Horror of the Year. Her short story, "The Emperor's Old Bones", won the International Horror Guild Award for Best Short Story of 1999. Five of her short stories have been adapted for the television series "The Hunger."Files's first novel, "A Book of Tongues," was published in 2010 and won the Black Quill award for "Best Small Press Chill" from Dark Scribe Magazine.
