This week, I am pleased to share with you a subject that is very close to my heart (and often on my mind, for that matter.) I recently sat down with Jesse and Matt, co-hosts of the Future is a Mixtape, to discuss the theory and praxis of anti-anti-utopia. Anti-anti-utopia happens to be the subject of my doctoral research and, as such, is something that I have been writing about ad nauseum for the last, oh, I dunno, two and a half years or so? And I’ve been thinking about it for at least twice as long so, suffice to say, it’s something that I’m really passionate about and interested in.
But what, exactly, is anti-anti-utopia, anyway?
Well, in this first episode of our two-part special collaboration with the Future is a Mixtape, Jesse, Matt, and I lay out the theory of anti-anti-utopia by discussing four main vectors: utopia, dystopia, anti-utopia, and anti-anti-utopia. Stay tuned for next week’s episode where we’ll move on from discussing the theory of anti-anti-utopia and share a dialogue about anti-anti-utopian praxis.
