Marc Mawhinney was crushing it in real estate in Canada, until 2009.

when the housing market crashed, his whole business imploded. He lost his business, his income and his reputation. He tried to bounce back and in 2012 he finally threw in the real estate towel.

Join Marc and I on his journey from losing his business to total reinvention. Along the way he

  • Was vilified in the media
  • Lost his marriage
  • Was the subject of ridiculous rumors
  • Became emotionally maxed out
"The worst thing you can do is sit there thinking about what you can't do"

One of the key concepts Marc shared about coming through the fire was granting himself that permission to live life. He realized that there were angry people who were never going to embrace him having a full life and he had to be ok with them being pissed that he was doing better. He shares that losing a business is a lot like a bad break up or losing a loved-one. Time heals but there are also some bad memories.

Finally Marc came to the place where he stopped thinking about the past and started thinking about the future. He shifted gears and created a business called Natural Born Coaches. He has a daily podcast, a thriving Facebook group called The Coaching Jungle, services and programs for coaches.

Listening to Marc, you pick up quickly on his charisma and confidence. He attributes his success coming through this fire on his confidence to know that while the situation was not ideal, he had value and deserved to live a full life. He also attributes much of his success in a book, Thick Face, Black Heart. A book I have since read and totally understand why he promotes it.

A huge thank you to Marc for his transparency. If you love this story, you can subscribe to the show on your device and have it delivered directly on Monday and Wednesday. Simply click on the icon that works with your device.
