I've been listening to this podcast for years, and I feel like these cheerful, funny, erudite journalists are real friends of mine. They certainly are friends to each other!I love the variety of topics they choose to cover, and countless times I've read a book, watched a series or seen a film based on their endorsement.I hope there is never a time when my Wednesdays aren't enhanced by this podcast!

They watch a lot of movies in genres that don't interest them (like jackass) then critique them from an "intellectual" standpoint as if that's the only form of entertainment that should exist. It's exhausting to hear them compete for who's the smartest critique when we really don't care, it's like a stick in the mud's academic pissing contest. It genuinely makes me sad to hear them insert and then debate the politics of even the most lighthearted entertainment. And of course any mention of the artform of fashion is overlooked as "consumerist shallowness" when film itself is as consumerist as it gets. This podcast makes me depressed at the state of the world. Don't watch movies if you don't like them. Not everything is meant to be a serious, intellectual masterpiece. Some things are made to be mindlessly entertaining escapism and that should be ok. The real world is serious enough, stop killing fantasy.

This podcast discusses a nice range of culture from highbrow to Marvel movies. The hosts have been podcasting together for about 15 years, and they are at the top of their game. This one is truly worth your while.
