We talk about why people believe in conspiracy theories and the role of the internet in spreading fringe ideas. We break down pizzagate and the recent viral misinformation about Wayfair. We point out the mental gymnastics it takes to believe in conspiracy theories and the the role they play in group identity formation. Finally we discuss how there are real conspiracies out there and the nugget of truth found in the disinformation.
