Join us for this hot mess of an episode that ends with one of the most romantic scenes in tv history. We're talking about the absolute ridiculousness of Dawson possibly having control over ending Brooks's life, and the fact that Andy Griffith comes to say good-bye to Brooks. Jack and Jen have one of the best scenes of their friendship on the show, and then promptly ruin it. And Joey is awful to Pacey until she's very much not awful to him. Also, that fucking phone call. Hey ya'll. Life got in the way this week, so we need to take a week off, but we'll be back next week with the episode for A Winter's Tale. It's a big one and we wanted to make sure we could do it justice. Take care of yourselves and we'll see you next week.
It's time for Dawson to meet Gretchen's friends, and one of them is Rachel True, and we are so excited about it. But the age difference between Dawson and Gretchen has never been more apparent. Meanwhile, Joey and Pacey have to take Drue and Anna (whose dad is president of the Capeside Yacht Club) on a double date, so Joey can get time off for the Senior Trip. Side note: on what planet are these guys the kind of people who go on a senior trip? Also, Tobey tries Jen's advice of being nice to Jack with varied results, when they tutor kids in reading together. Join us for this deep dive into the 90s teen drama Dawson's Creek! It's Pacey's 18th birthday, and it's full of plot holes. Did Joey and Pacey ever go to Sunday night dinners? Because if they did, why is Joey so shocked at how much Pacey's family sucks? Dawson makes the rookie mistake of thinking just because you go on a date with someone, doesn't mean you're in a relationship. And why the fuck is Tobey so mean to Jack, and why is Jen encouraging Tobey's crush on Jack, when Tobey and Jack seem to really not get along at all? So many questions, so few answers. This week we're talking about all kinds of men behaving badly. Between Dawson, Pacey, and Drue, we have a trifecta of shitty dudes...and Joey isn't great either. Between Pacey trying to pawn Gretchen off on her ex, Drue sexually assaulting Joey (can this girl catch a damn break?), or Dawson trying to tell Grams her life, everyone is messy. And to top it all off, we end with a romcom trope that we kind of love and kind of hate. This one's a ride. Join us for this deep dive into the 90s teen drama Dawson's Creek! The fallout from Dawson and Gretchen's kiss at the holiday party is reverberating through Capeside, because when is a kiss ever JUST a kiss in this little town? Pacey and Joey are fighting over how Joey feels about it, while completely ruining their time without Bessie and Bodie watching over them. Jen and Jack go to Provincetown to a Gay Straight alliance meeting and meet Tobey, who, like every man on this show, must be a dick before he can be nice. Ugh. But great one liners, and Jen is amazing as always. Join us for this deep dive into the 90s teen drama Dawson's Creek! Thank you so much to Killya for our amazing theme song. Merry Christmas in March. This episode is all over the place, with Joey completely out of her element and throwing Pacey under the bus at a Worthington networking dinner, while Gretchen negotiates to throw the annual Leery holiday part at Mitch and Gail's house. Meanwhile, Gail is WAY more pregnant than she should be at this point. Also, we learn that Grams is STILL not talking to Jen for the whole Andie taking an ecstasy tablet that Jen had, but did not procure for herself, so that's wild. Also, Dawson learns the truth about Mr. Brooks's past and then ends the night at the holiday party by full on kissing Gretchen under the mistletoe. Okay. Here we go. Welcome to Dawson's Noir! And Congratulations to the class of 2001 (us)! This week we are trying to solve the mystery of who put the principal's boat and dog in Capeside High's indoor swimming pool (what is this high school?!?). Luckily, the new principal is played by Harry Shearer, who holds this weird episode together. Warning: This is a dude-centric episode and we feel the dearth of ladies, but Jen gives us one of the best pratfalls of all time, so we can forgive. We're here at the first bittersweet episode of senior year—we have to say goodbye to Andie McPhee. We have loved her since she ran into Pacey's dad's squad car and we will miss her greatly. Unfortunately, Andie's leaving Capeside is what brings all of our teens back together after the fallout of last week's rave and Andie's bad reaction to ecstasy. We're here to discuss it all, and listen to Sarah McLachlan for the entire last part of the episode. Join us for this deep dive into the 90s teen drama Dawson's Creek! Time to celebrate! Andie gets into Harvard and the gang all ends up at a rave. Andie takes one of the ecstasy pills that Drue gave Jen, and Jen has to be rave mom to Andie, who is TERRIBLE at hiding the fact that she's high. When the X reacts badly with Andie's antidepressants she needs medical attention, but before she can be taken away in an ambulance, Jack blames Jen for this scene, and must we continue to do this shit? Pacey feels bad that he didn't know there was a problem and stays at the hospital, while Dawson and Joey hang and try to have a conversation that doesn't go super well. Whew, this episode is a ride and like not a great one. We have some great conversation about consent, abortion, and emotional labor, all of which are big topics, but mostly because this episode fails to actually have those conversations in its storytelling. Though we must say, this episode does have a few really great lines, and a great song was cut that we discuss in depth. Join us for this deep dive into the 90s teen drama Dawson's Creek! This episode gives us literally every single thing that we want from Dawson's Creek—friend moments, great Pacey/Joey content, Jen/Joey/Andie girlfriend bonding time, Jack/Andie brother/sister time, and of course, the greatest character: Drunk Joey! It's the last beautiful day of the season...or so Pacey thought. The Perfect Storm done Capeside style, this episode is action packed. We have Jen and Pacey in danger on the True Love; Joey, Dawson, and Drue thrown together for a school project; Dawson being totally oblivious to Joey's increasing panic. This is a great one, and showcases not only everything that we've been begging for for multiple seasons, but also sets so much into motion! It's the first day of senior year, and Pacey is officially not a senior, but he's not going to tell Joey because he's embarrassed. Mitch tells Dawson this for some reason and Dawson goes to Joey to tell her and it's a real nightmare. Meanwhile, Jack breaks up with Jen for Henry who has proven that he was not worthy of our time last year, and all in all, senior year is not starting great. We hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and sane. Hope we help you get through this week. Join us for this deep dive into the 90s teen drama Dawson's Creek! What happens after you sail off into the sunset? That's what we're talking about in Season 4 of Dawson's Creek. This week, Joey and Pacey come back from their trip and immediately start fighting, but is this the greatest fight ever? We love it. Dawson has the worst hair ever, and also is still hurt, but maybe has moved forward. Jen, Andie, Jack, and Dawson have been hanging nonstop this summer and we love it. We meet Gretchen Witter—a queen. And we get to discuss why the Real World New Orleans is involved with this episode. We hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and sane. At last the ship that launched a thousand ships is sailing into the sunset. Dawson tries to remind Joey of what they had before literally telling her she's free—and this is somehow not the end of their friendship. Jen, Jack, Andie, and Grams go on a wild Carpe Diem road trip so that Jen can apologize to Henry. Jack also goes to Ethan to kiss him and tell him that he's ready but it doesn't go as planned. Still, this is was such a huge deal at the time that we break it down for ya'll. Pacey and Joey finally get their happy ending and sail into the sunset on the ship True Love. And, of course, Dawson cries. Put on your life preservers and remember to ask permission before boarding. We're in for a wild ride! We hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and sane. We remember everything about this episode where Jack is discriminated against for being gay, Joey and Andie are great allies, and Dawson is a dick, but somehow makes this prom happen as if he's a hero? Ugh. A classic episode of tv, and one of the best of Dawson's Creek, this episode is full of drama and the most romantic scene in tv history. My god we love this one. We remember EVERYTHING. Everyone behaves like utter garbage in this episode that deals in the aftermath of everyone finding out about Pacey and Joey. Dawson is the worst, but everyone behaves poorly except for Will Krudski, who we say good-bye to in this ep. But you know what it means when everyone acts like garbage—this is a long one. Holy shit! This episode blew our minds in 2000, and remains one of the best episode of the entire series. We follow each character as they come to discover the truth about Joey and Pacey. It's a ride, each and every time, and we love every second of it, even when Dawson is being awful—and we wanted to give him so much slack. Also, stay for the repeated lines, and the Watergate assignment in which we just talk about what a great movie Dick is. Put on your life preservers and remember to ask permission before boarding. Cue up Daydream Believer, because we are here! Joey feels alive, as does Erin. Julia is dead and by the end of this episode we're so in love with Pacey Witter and his looking for consent that we can barely hold it together. In other news, this is one of the few episodes where we find Jen difficult to really root for. While Mitch and Gail have some deep conversations about what they mean to each other. Don't forget to let us know your favorite Wild Women of Dawson's Creek and your favorite Karaoke song! Put on your life preservers and remember to ask permission before boarding. Ya'll in 2000, after waiting weeks to find out what happened after Pacey kissed Joey, we came back to this episode, which was NOT what we expected. Now, it's one of our favorite episodes. Andie, Jen, and Joey FINALLY learn that maybe they should have some female friends in a way that has us cheering. Meanwhile, Pacey and Dawson go camping, where Pacey tries to tell Dawson about his feelings for Joey but is stymied by Buzz and his friends, and then by his own realization that he really will lose Dawson as a friend if he goes for Joey. Jack and his dad finally have a conversation after a somewhat disastrous weekend and who knows, maybe they're on the path to possibly mending their relationship. IT FINALLY HAPPENED! Pacey kissed Joey and the world of Dawson's Creek has started to right itself. But first we have to endure an entire episode with A.J. where we learn that A.J. is the Dawson (this tracks) to his friend Morgan's Joey, and Joey ends up the Jen in this situation. We also spend time at Gail Leery's restaurant, which is in utter chaos just a week before opening and we are stressed and everyone is eating so much gross chowder. Ugh. But in the end, Pacey kisses Joey and we haven't been the same since we watched this in the year 2000. Someone cue up Daydream Believer. Put on your life preservers and remember to ask permission before boarding. We're in for a wild ride! We hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and sane. Hope we help you get through this week. In our special extra episode, we talk to our listener Jay who talked to us about Asperger's and their relationship to Dawson as someone who may have Asperger's. It's a fun conversation that has spoilers and discusses this mind-blowing fan theory. Enjoy! And stay safe this election week.
