RATING
A great, short series. Worth a listen for appreciating the complex relationship people have with their national identity, as well as, the dangers extremism pose to democracy.
The New York Times has repeatedly proven that they are not a trustworthy news organization.
Chilling. Pay attention.
Didn't think I would be into this, but it was so interesting and well done. Very scary look into the world of fighting against democracy and the strategies used to do so. This was particularly set in Germany, but holds true throughout the world.
Five stars for five episodes of stellar reporting. This should be heard by anyone who hesitates or even scoffs at the notion that fascism and nazism remain a threat in the world today. It makes one wonder, was the nazi party's defeat during WWII as decisive as we were lead to believe? Or did we simply drive the remnants into the dark, where ambitions were shared in secret over decades, where plans could amass via whisper?Germany is far from the only country who should be deeply concerned by the credible threat of far-right nationalists and neo-nazis infiltrating their government, their military, and their police force. As an American with German heritage and plentiful cause for concern at home, I do care greatly to see Germany handle this particular threat from within and look to them to set a strong example.
This was one of those podcasts that was a topic I wasn't sure I was interested in until I started it. The details of the story are interesting, but if you want to skip the specifics, listen to Episode 5 about the German strategy to combat anti-democracy and how well it is working now that it is being tested for the first time since it was conceived. This is so important.
Amazing podcast, I’ve recommended it to several people here in Germany as I think most of the population are unaware of this story. Very informative and well produced.
