Fantastic podcast! Such a funny and well written scripted comedy all about the residents communally living at Chekhov Gardens. The actors do a great job at bringing the residents to life. Can’t wait to see what happens at Chekhov Gardens next!
Great show! It's funny and clever and really entertaining. I can't wait to see what the residents of Chekhov Gardens get into next. Definitely one of my favorite scripted comedy podcasts. Highly recommend!
Absolute perfection! The use of passive-aggressive messages is genius, and the characters are all really well written; it would be very easy for something like this to descend to ridiculousness and farce, but it effortlessly manages to balance out in to something that just very believable. I love it!
It's a universal experience--we think our neighbors are idiots, especially the ones we're forced to get along with. The problems faced by the residents of Chekhov Gardens are ordinary ones. And what makes the show endearing, funny, and a little rage-inducing is how petty, outraged, territorial, and selfish everyone can get about them! What's worse... I don't think it's an exaggeration. An insightful satire of human nature, performed well. BONUS: By the time you're a few episodes in, you'll recognize everyone's individual email sounds, which may or may not set you off.
As if your least favourite Facebook group had a podcast! Hilarious and relatable - think we will all recognise a few characters in here. I'm sad to see this one finish and hope it returns with a new set of bastards one day!
Genius premise, superbly executed. Imagine your local Facebook groups quibbles and controversies being aired aloud and you have idea of what Dear Bastard is all about. The eccentric, self-important, obnoxious and intolerant residents of 17 Chekhov Gardens correspond by email about any and every complaint, proposal, question and behaviour with a range of passive aggression, sarcasm and threats of confrontation. I don't usually review shows after one season but I was so immediately entertained I had to recommend this. Shout out to Rolene, one of my favourite characters in all of audio drama.
Really funny and excellent acting. I binged the whole thing in just a few days.
I have listened to this podcast twice now. I was howling both times.
