February 11th, 1990, Katie Rodriguez Banister survived an auto accident that left her a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest down and placed her in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.

Banister did not let her limitations limit her ability to live life to the fullest.

Since her injury Katie has served as Ms. Wheelchair Missouri.  She has been recognized as a St. Louis Woman of Achievement.  In 1993 she was recognized by the Missouri Governor’s Council on Disability as their Advocate of the Year.  In 1995 was named one of Ten Outstanding Young St. Louisans by the St. Louis Jaycees Jr. Chamber of Commerce and in 1998 Katie was named as one of Ten Outstanding Young Missourians by the Missouri Jaycees.

Katie and her husband Steve, whom she met after her injury, co-founded Access-4-All in 1997 with a mission to educate and empower others through their publications, motivational speaking, and disability education programs.  

Katie and Chris discuss how their respective spinal cord injuries affected their lives and how they to this day live life to the fullest despite their limitations.
