It’s a little different for me, and also incredible, to talk about someone who is in their early 20’s and already making their positive and important mark on American history and really the history of the world.
Amanda Gorman is the first person to be named National Youth Poet Laureate. Amanda’s poem, “The Hill We Climb” and Amanda’s impassioned and powerful reading at President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2020 Inauguration, moved the country and inspired so many people to continue to push for positive change in racial equity and other social justice issues. I’m so excited to talk about Amanda Gorman and while talking about her past, to wonder about how much else Amanda could possibly accomplish.
