I’m so excited to have Dr. Katherine Foss back on the show! You’ll remember Katie from Episode 36. Dr. Katherine Foss is a Professor of Media Studies at the School of Journalism and Strategic Media at Middle Tennessee State University. Dr. Foss teaches about health communication, television, and gender studies. Dr. Foss’ book, “Constructing the Outbreak: Epidemics in Media and Collective Memory,” analyzes seven epidemics from the past 200 years, and describes how shifts in both medicine and journalism influenced the outcomes of those pandemics. Now that so much has changed in the past two years, not only because of the arrival of COVID, but how much the disease itself has changed, I’m excited to hear what Dr. Foss has to teach us.
