In episode 28 of our podcast, Brad and I had a great chat with Michael Tieso, founder of Reggio Studio and store owner.
Developer Turned Store Owner
Michael previously was on the team at WooCommerce and has been a freelance developer for several years. He took the dive and started his own online store, YerbaMatero.com. There he sells a unique drink (similar to tea) straight out of the tradition and culture of South America.
He shares what he has learned as a shop owner and how it reflects his views as a developer. Michael also is open about the challenges he has faced. Interestingly, he also has moved to selling on eBay and tells us about the integration with WooCommerce and how that process, and sales has gone for him.
Michael then shares his move from freelancer to starting his full-service agency, Reggio Digital Studio.
Will WooCommerce Be Affected by the Investment from Salesforce to Automattic?
There was a recent tweet on Twitter about this.
I'll be presenting at an eCommerce summit next week regarding the future of #WooCommerce.Given the recent 300M investment from @salesforce in @automattic, what's your take on the future of eCommerce in #WordPress?— Mario Peshev (@no_fear_inc) September 24, 2019
I asked both Michael and Brad to weight in with their two cents.
WooCommerce Admin v0.10.0
With the next release around the corner, I asked Michael if he had used the plugin and what his thoughts were. Brad also talks a bit about the update and Brad and I resolve to dig back into this plugin and talk about it more on a future show.

In episode 27, Brad and I have the pleasure of talking with Brian Krogsgard from Post Status on an eCommerce-filled show.
So Much Woo
Brian has been using WooCommerce since its inception. We go back to the early days and move into how WooCommerce has matured, as well as its challenges in ease of use, especially for the Woo beginner.
Our conversation takes many twists and turns, including a review of Shopify and other aspects of eCommerce.
We even touch on the subject Brian brought up with Matt Mullenweg: the possibility of the WooCommerce marketplace being eventually transformed to a subscription service.
Shopify, Amazon and Shiprocket
I pulled out a couple of articles that I wanted to get Brad and Brian’s thoughts on.
The first was an eye-catching title Shopify will soon trail only Amazon for US eCommerce. In my eyes, for the average store owner this is like comparing apples to oranges. But Brian had an interesting perspective on this.
The second article concerned the partnership of Shiprocket and WooCommerce. Although a good part of our previous conversation was around 3rd party needs for WooCommerce, the fact that was pointed out to me that Shiprocket is more of a logistics solution for shipping, Brian shared some of his thoughts on the bigger picture of international shipping.
With that, I can say this show is a must-listen to.

In episode 26, Brad Williams is joined by Topher DeRosia with BigCommerce. BobWP wasn’t able to join the conversation but, of course, Brad pulled it off without any hitches.
Brad chats with Topher about what headless eCommerce is, how the integration with WordPress has gone so far, PCI compliance and what is in store for BigCommerce in the upcoming months.
Brad and Topher go in several other directions so you will want to listen to the show.
Topher and BigCommerce
Topher starts with an overview of BigCommerce. He shares some insights into what was lacking with BigCommerce as a SaaS product and how their customers wanted integration with WordPress.
Brad talks about the popularity of headless WordPress sites, including eCommerce sites. Topher talks more about what headless really means and why BigCommerce is a headless solution. Brad takes it from there and digs deeper into the headless topic.
Brad asks how the move of BigCommerce into the WordPress integration has played out. It’s interesting to hear where Topher has seen the biggest area of growth.
Next they move a bit into PCI compliance and share their own experiences with it. This leads into the benefit of BigCommerce and the benefit of not having to worry about ongoing compliance.
They end with a few odds and ends that you can check out in the show, including BigCommerce 100% supporting CBD products. Brad notes that they were chatting BigCommerce on a WooCommerce podcast. But as Topher and Brad suggest, it all depends on your needs and which option is best for you.
