Leaving an undesirable suitor behind, she takes wacky Aunt Genie, who demands constant attention while doling out witty sarcasm. Beths best friend, also a cousin and the family housekeeper, goes along and becomes a force of strength. Along the way, others join the household. The seven dont always like each other, but they need to be together. The year is 1913, and the setting is in the town of Taylorsburg of the Covington Chronicles, but House of Seven is an independent story. The author blends romance, comedy, and mystery in a fast-paced novel told through the viewpoints of multiple characters.Members Reviews:Reading this novel will leave you with a smile on your face and possibly tears of laughter!Mary Lou Cheatham has written an absolutely delightful story in HOUSE OF SEVEN. There are serious aspects to it, but there is lots of humor and fun. Begin reading with a lighthearted attitude, and you won't be pulled down. There's lots of laughter to be found in Taylorsburg, Mississippi in 1913 as twenty-six-year-old Beth DuBard moves into the house bestowed upon her by her Uncle Albert, and he also left her his newspaper and printing business. She is chaperoned by a sometimes incorrigible and always eccentric Aunt Genie. Thankful to escape imminent danger, housekeeper Rosa Linda Miller joins the pair and adds to the fun. There are three love stories included, a child mailed to the house, a brief kidnapping, a checker champion old lady, and the fun just goes on and on! Reading this novel will leave you with a smile on your face, and there were a couple of spots where I had tears from laughter!Entertaining bookFabulous book written by Mary Lou Cheatham. She sprinkled this entertaining book with humor and love.I loved the characters in this bookMary Lou never disappoints!
