The story of Langenhoe Church begins as does the story of many Churches across the United Kingdom. The first Church on the site was recorded in the Middle Ages, and after numerous additions to the Church over the next 400 years or so, it stood a local landmark, situated in the marshlands between Colchester and Mersea Island. It is unknown whether any hauntings occurred before the end of the 19th Century, but there were tales of possible local hauntings, though they may be more mythical than this strange tale.
