Jussie Smollett plays Jamal Lyon, the middle son and black sheep of the Lyon family, a talented, gay singer-songwriter who despises the corporate aspect of the music industry and is estranged from his homophobic father. Bryshere Y. Gray is Hakeem Lyon, the fame-obsessed youngest son and Lucious' favorite child, who is a hip hop star on the rise. Grace Gealey is Anika Calhoun, head of Empire Entertainment A and R and Lucious' fiancé who Cookie refers to as Kitty Boo Boo. Naomi Campbell, Macy Gray, Courtney Love, Tasha Smith, Judd Nelson, Ta’Rhonda Jones and Gabourey Sidibe round out the cast.Music for the show is handled by Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley.
