For Episode 69 I'm joined by Matt from the band Contact. Contact are a band from Richmond, Virginia. During our discussion Matt talks about growing up in Florida and what eventually brought him to Richmond. Matt was also very active in the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 so we discuss activism during the interview. When I first got into hardcore I witnessed some pretty wild events. There were fights with skinheads, suburban dudes acting as "crews," countless stage dives, a full scale riot, black eyes, a broken nose, and a broken window at a gig in a second story loft courtesy of a guitar amp. There was also the time we all had to wait it out because someone pulled a gun out in the parking lot. This all transpired within my first two years in the scene. Needless to say I was hooked. This podcast will serve as not only a memory of all of those events, but also a look into the future.
