Fan Wars is such a great, bite-sized romantic comedy that explores more than just a man, a woman, and smooching. Instead, the show makes the clever turn of having its characters build their relationship through online chats...and shared fandom for a certain major movie franchise. The acting is superb in this show, and the writing is so refreshingly honest and real, both in depicting fandom culture and the romantic tension between our leads. Seriously, this is one heck of a show, and it really deserves your attention.
I adore this show! I listened to most of it in one sitting this week and couldn't believe how well-produced, written, and acted it was. As someone with many Star Wars-fan friends of all types, I thought this was a loving, funny, and accurate spin on the fandom through these two three-dimensional characters and their relationship. I've witnessed these arguments, I know these people, and I'm SO invested in these characters and their growth, success, and happiness. I couldn't recommend this show more and will LEAP on anything this team produces!
Perfect bite sized chunks are why I love this show. So many shows shy away from a short run time but it really is to its credit that each episode is so full and rich with character development and excellent dialogue that I feel I know both of them extremely well. A great premise that is utilised really well and has quickly become a personal favourite of mine. Also The Last Jedi was good :)
This is a really cute, romantic show! Two people go from arguing about The Last Jedi online, to talking about other things, to giving each other life advice, to... well, that's spoilers. :) I adore the banter of this show and the slow progression from enemies to not-enemies.
Love usually comes in short, often hilarious bursts, & so does Fan Wars, & I think that's why I enjoy it so much... Obviously if you love Star Wars & micro-fiction, this show is for you, but beyond that: laughing & loving all the ways we can be so positively opposed & still care for one another, is something we could all use a lot more of. Please listen today !!!
Captures two characters and their enemies to lovers relationship development incredibly well, especially given such short episodes. The banter is fun, both in the writing and how the actors play off each other. The main male character's voice actor changes halfway through, but it only threw me off for half the episode.
Fan Wars is my favorite kind of romantic comedy - the slow burn, the they hate each other at first but then!!! It's the fantastic nerdy rom-com you need in your life right now. Jackie and Steven are beautifully written and acted. They are so real - messy and complicated and funny and wry and emotional. The whole show feels like overhearing a conversation between your friends. It's a delight.
This shows was so amazing. The main characters have so much chemistry and feel so real. I love the way that it brings together Star Wars and a rom com. I can't wait for the creators next project!
