Set your phasers on fabulous. Colette Gregory, Marc Felion, Brian Sweeney and Fausto Fernós explore strange new worlds and drive each other up the wall. Photo: Fausto Fernós.

When it comes to love on Star Trek, we usually think of Kirk or Riker as the Don Juans of the galaxy who seduce whatever sexy species they come across, for science of course.

But the real magic in Star Trek is how characters from very different backgrounds fall in love in the middle of trying to save the universe.

Time gets loopy in the latest episode of Star Trek Discovery ‘Magic To Make The Sanest Man Go Mad’ as space swindler Harcourt Fenton Mudd stows away inside a space whale to sneak inside the Discovery to figure out what makes the starship so special so he can sell the ship and its secrets to the Klingons.

Because space tripping Lieutenant Stamets has been injected with hot tardigrade DNA, only he knows what’s really going on and has to convince Michael Burnman to let her guard down, slow dance with her crush Ash Tyler and get the secrets they need from Mudd to stop his sinister hijinks:

What the Trek? Welcome to the podcast where we fabulously explore all the strange new episodes from the TV series Star Trek: Discovery.

I’m your ship’s captain,Fausto Fernós. Picard on the streets, Kirk in the sheets.

Please welcome my first officer and husband Marc Felion who just left a space whale in the toilet and it won’t flush down. I can’t even phaser that thing out of here.

Our ship’s guidance counselor Colette Gregory who is a Betazoid, which means she’s able to read all those filthy, dirty thoughts in your mind, but still loves you anyways.

And our ship’s Science officer Brian Sweeney, who is half Vulcan, half Borg, half Romulan, half Android and 100% asshole.

Better become familiar with Broadway musicals like Rent and Hair, because you know they’re going to work it in to Discovery one way or another.

This is the ship’s doctor Wilson Cruz in drag as Angel in the musical Rent:
