Minto and Dave discuss the role that Explore Waterloo Region plays in helping to market Festivals and Events in the Waterloo Region., and how event organizers need to better work with their DMO and RTO to grow and market their event.

Minto also talked about the new MAT tax being collected from Hotels, B&B's and Air B&B's that a portion of is being used by Explore Waterloo Region to offer grant opportunities to festivals and events in the region. The grants pay particular attention to events that generate overnight stays and long term visitors to the Region of Waterloo and the surrounding area. The goal is to target visitors from a minimum of 40km away.
